UCF struggled for most of the conference season, but they have won three of their last five games and they have scored at least 76 points in four of their last five. The Knights are only shooting 42% from the field this year, but they do have a 76-72 win over Utah just a couple of weeks ago. I really don’t like how Utah ended the season and I think UCF is going to get another win over the Utes here.

Utah Has Shown Some Signs of Life

Utah has shown some signs of life since firing their coach. Two games ago, against Arizona State, they were able to secure a 99-73 victory. In the last game against West Virginia, they were competitive, but they still ended up falling short. At halftime, they were down 30-29, and in the second half, they were still competitive, but they couldn’t make the shots late. Gabe Madsen had quite the game, putting up 23 points, five rebounds, and two assists. There were three different nplayers that put up at least 11 points. 

Utah has a record of 16-14 with a record of 14-16 against the spread. On the road, they are only 1-8. Utah averages 75.4 points per game, ranking their offense 135th amongst college basketball teams. They give up an average of 71.3 points per game, ranking them 159th, defensively. 

BYU is On Fire

BYU is on fire heading into this game and they have won seven games in a row. Two games ago against West Virginia, they won 77-55, and in the last game against Iowa State they won 88-85. It took double overtime against the Cyclones, but they won the game. Richie Saunders had a strong game putting up 23 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Dallin Hall also made quite the statement, putting up 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists. As a team, they shot 44.1 percent from the field, and they hit 25 of their 31 shots from the free throw line. 

BYU has a record of 22-8 and is 18-11-1 against the spread. At home, their record is 14-2. They are ranked 31st in offense with an average of 81.2 points per game. Defensively, they give up an average of 70 points per game, putting them in 119th position. Richie Suanders has been the top player, averaging 16.1 points while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from behind the three-point line.

Give me Utah here as the underdogs. They have finally started to show some signs of life, and the balanced offensive attack has been the biggest reason why. Gabe Madsen was good in the last game, but he wasn’t the star player. BYU is averaging 81.2 points per game, but their defense hasn’t been as dominant, and it will be the scoring by Utah that will keep this game close. They might not keep it within five points, but this is way too many points. Back Utah against the spead.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

The Sun Devils started out the year on a pretty nice clip, but they’ve struggled since early January. Arizona State went 10-3 over their first 13 outings, beating Idaho State, Santa Clara, Grand Canyon, St. Thomas MN, Cal Poly, New Mexico, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, UMass and Colorado in that time. The Sun Devils would go just 2-5 over the next seven with wins over West Virginia and Colorado among losses to Kansas, Baylor, UCF, Cincinnati and Iowa State. Another losing streak began from there versus Arizona, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU and Houston, but was stopped by a win over Kansas State. That would give the Sun Devils a 13-14 overall record across their first 27 games this season.

In their Wednesday matchup with BYU, Arizona State was down by 10 points at halftime. The Sun Devils kept the pace on a 44-44 run from there but ended up losing 91-81 in the end. Basheer Jihad topped the team in the defeat with 19 points and four rebounds.

Utah Utes Betting Preview

Over on the Utes’ side, they’re doing a bit better record-wise but they’ve also had a pretty choppy run overall. Utah kicked things off with an 8-2 run featuring wins over Alcorn State, Central Arkansas, Queens U, Utah Tech, MS Valley State, Eastern Washington, Radford and Florida A&M. A 3-6 stretch came next with wins over Oklahoma State, TCU and BYU among losses to Iowa, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Houston and Baylor again. The next eight were a 4-4 run with wins versus Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas and Kansas State among losses to Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Cincinnati and UCF in that time. In total across 27 games that would give the Utes a 15-12 overall record.

Matched up against Arizona on Wednesday, the Utes were down 46-32 going into the second half. Utah was outscored 37-34 the rest of the way, finishing off an 83-66 loss in the end. The Utes’ leading starter was Ezra Ausar with 18 points, five rebounds and one steal in 37 minutes on the floor. Gabe Madsen added 10 points with seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. Keanu Dawes was the team’s leading bench contributor on 18 points with 10 rebounds, one assist and one block in 26 minutes of work. Lawson Lovering chipped in with six points, four assists and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes as well.

I’ll lean toward Utah, but there’s not a lot to get excited about here with both teams struggling lately. The Utes were blitzed on the road versus a good Arizona team in their last game, posting just 33.9 percent shooting from the field with a 45-39 rebounding deficit. Utah also notched 12 turnovers for 19 Wildcats points, but did hold Arizona to a modest 41.3 percent shooting on the other side. The Utes have now lost consecutive games, giving up a combined 159 points in that pair. The good news for Utah is that they’re still scoring well lately with 72 or more points in four of the five games during this current 2-3 run.

As for Arizona State, they shot well (47.4 percent) and had just nine turnovers in their latest loss at home to BYU. Trouble is, the Sun Devils gave up 54.8 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent (17-of-34) from 3-point range while getting outmuscled on the boards 36-30. This matchup could go a lot of different ways, but I’m leaning slightly toward Utah at home.

Can Coaching Change Help Utah?

Utah has let go of coach Craig Smith, and sometimes that’s all a team needs to go on a run. It hasn’t been a good season for Utah, but still, the firing seems to be at a bit of an odd time. Utah has won two of the last three games, but the loss came in the last game. The two wins came against the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats. In the last game against UCF, Utah scored 72 points, but they still lost by four points. Utah shot 50.9 percent from the field, which was six percent higher than UCF, but it still wasn’t enough to pick up the win. 

Utah still sits with a 15-12 record overall, but away from home, they have gone only 1-7. Utah is averaging 75.1 points, while their defense is giving up 70.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 143rd while the defense is ranked 145th. One issue for this team is that the defense is giving up 37.59 points per game, and the defense needs to be better. Guard Gabe Madesn has been the top player, averaging 15.8 points while shooting 38.8 percent from the field and 33.2 percent from behind the three-point line. 

Why Utah Will Cover Against Arizona

• Utah has won six of its last seven night games against the Big 12 Conference.
• Arizona has lost three of its last four games against the Big 12 Conference.

Arizona Can’t Slip Up

It’s pretty simple in this game, Arizona can’t slip up, especially as they are playing for NCAA tournament seeding. Arizona is suddenly struggling, and they have lost three of the last four games. In the last game against BYU, they were down by three points at halftime, and they couldn’t fight back in the second half. Arizona actually shot 54.2 percent from the field, but they allowed BYU to shoot 55.4 percent from the field. No one could slow down Caleb Love, who put up 27 points, five rebounds, and three assists. In this game, the defense is going to need to be much better. 

Arizona has an 18-9 record and has gone 11-3 at home. Although its defense hasn’t always been great, its offense has been impressive, averaging 81.6 points, which is 30th in the league. Caleb Love is having a huge season, averaging 16.2 points while shooting 38 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from behind the three-point line.

I don’t expect Utah to get that high post-coach firing, but they will keep this game close. Utah’s strength all season has been the offense, and they will continue that success here. Arizona is giving up 70.8 points per game, but they have zero confidence after the way they played against BYU. Utah might not score that many here, but they will score enough. This game’s line should be closer to six or seven points. Back Utah against the spread. Both offenses are also going to run up in score. I really like both of these plays a lot. Maybe sprinkle a little bit on a same-game parlay.

Ezra Ausar follows him with 11.4 PPG and 4.8 RPG, while Lawson Lovering chips in with 8.9 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 2.6 APG, and a team-high 1.0 BPG.

UCF Knights Betting Preview

The UCF Knights (13-13, 11-15 ATS) played some excellent basketball early in the season, winning ten of the opening 12 games. In 2025, however, UCF lost 11 of 14 games and is currently on a seven-game losing skid. The Knights are coming home from a two-game road trip, during which they lost to Colorado and Oklahoma State.  UCF is 14th in the Big 12, and it looks like they are going to finish the regular season at the bottom of the conference.

UCF is averaging 79.0 PPG (60th) and is allowing 80.6 PPG (351st). The Knights are getting 36.2 RPG (155th) and are having 14.2 APG (161st). Keyshawn Hall is the team’s top scorer with 19.1 PPG, along with a team-high 7.0 RPG. Darius Johnson adds 15.1 PPG, a team-high 4.2 APG, a team-high 2.3 SPG, and 3.2 RPG, while Jordan Ivy-Curry has 13.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 1.4 SPG.

• UCF has lost each of its last seven games.
• UCF has lost the first half in each of its last five games against the Big 12 Conference.

Utah vs UCF Prediction

Utah recorded just one road victory this year, and I’d normally back UCF here, but in this situation and the poor form the Knights are at the moment, I am leaning toward the visitors. UCF lost each of the last three home games, and while it’s optimistic to expect Utah to get a W here, I am pretty sure the Utes will put up a fight and stay close until the end.

UCF has only covered the spread in 16 of the last 34 games, while Utah has covered the spread in 20 of the last 37 games. Talking about ATS, the Utes had more success this year, and I am backing them to cover here as well.

Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats had a rough stretch of games in December and January, but aside from that they’re not doing too badly in the record column. Kansas State opened on a 6-2 run with losses to LSU and Liberty amid wins over New Orleans, Cleveland State, MS Valley State, George Washington, Longwood, and Arkansas Pine Bluff. A rough 1-9 run came across the next 10 games, with a lone victory over Cincinnati on December 30. Kansas State otherwise lost to St. John’s, Drake, Wichita State, TCU, Oklahoma State, Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Baylor during that stretch. The Wildcats got back on the horse with wins over West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Arizona State, Kansas, and Arizona in the next six games, which gave them a 13-11 overall run through the first 24 outings of the year.

In their Saturday matchup with BYU, the Wildcats were drilled 40-22 in the first half. Kansas State recovered from there on a 43-40 advantage but still lost by a sizable 80-65 margin. Dug McDaniel led the team with 22 points, two assists, and two steals in 37 minutes of work. Brendan Hausen was the only other team player to finish in double-figures with 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Tops in scoring off the bench was CJ Jones with his nine points, two rebounds, and one steal in 20 minutes of action. Max Jones, David N’Guessan, and Coleman Hawkins each chipped in six points apiece as well.

Over on the Utes’ side, they started out quite well but they’ve been very choppy since mid-December amid some tough matchups. Utah went 8-2 over their first 10 outings with wins over Central Arkansas, Queens U, Utah Tech, MS Valley State, Eastern Washington, Radford, and Florida A&M alongside losses to Mississippi State and Saint Mary’s. Losses to Iowa, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Iowa State came next before wins over Oklahoma State, TCU, and BYU. The next seven games were a 2-5 stretch with wins over only Cincinnati and Colorado. Otherwise, it was losses courtesy of Houston, Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Cincinnati in that time, giving the Utes a 13-11 result in their first 24 games of the season.

Matched up against Kansas on Saturday, the Utes held a slim 39-37 halftime edge. Utah kept it up in the second half on a 35-30 run and pulled off the home-upset victory 74-67 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Gabe Madsen with his 24 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Ezra Ausar added 12 points with eight rebounds in 29 minutes, and Jake Wahlin posted a double-double of 10 points with 12 rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes on the floor.

Utah vs Kansas State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Kansas State. Probably not touching this one, though. Some of the luster has worn off following the Wildcats’ ugly loss on Saturday. In that matchup with BYU, Kansas State shot a tepid 41 percent from the field with 12 turnovers and a 41-31 rebounding deficit. The free throw shooting (9-of-17 for 52.9 percent) was lacking as well. On the other side, the Wildcats gave up 49.1 percent shooting and were pretty much buried after the rough first half. The loss halts a six-game winning streak and marks the Wildcats’ lowest scoring total since posting just 62 points in a loss to Baylor on the road back on January 22.

As for Utah, they get a much-needed lift after the big Saturday win over Kansas. The Utes are still playing pretty choppy in the record column though, losing five of their last eight games. This one should be pretty close, and the outcome will depend on how each team responds after their respective weekend matchups.

The Bearcats do have a good amount of momentum right now, but these teams are very similar in my opinion and I like Utah with the points here.

Utah comes into this game with a 13-9 record overall, and they have gone 11-11 against the spread. Utah’s offense and defense are both ranked 133rd in the country. With those stats it’s not shocking that they have lost some games. One area this team is good is sharing the ball. They are averaging 18.41 assists per game which is 6th in the league. Gabe Madsen has been the top player this season, averaging 15 points while shooting 38.4 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from behind the three point line. 

Why Utah Will Beat West Virginia

West Virginia has lost four of its last five games against the Big 12 Conference.

West Virginia Has Been Inconsistent

West Virginia has been inconsistent heading into this game and this is a big game that they need to win. Two games ago against Cincinnati, the defense gave up only 50 points and that was enough for the victory. In the last game, though, against TCU, it wasn’t as good and they ended up losing 65-60. At halftime, they were up 29-28, but in the second half they didn’t play as well and they ended up losing. Guard Javon SMall was the top player, putting up 20 points, seven assists, and one rebound. 

West Virginia comes into this game with a 14-8 record overall and they have gone 10-10 against the spread. WVU is averaging 69.3 points while their defense is giving up 63.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 297th in the league while the defense is ranked 17th. The offense has been a little more inconsistent lately, and they are going to need the offense to get out to a fast start here. Javon Small is having a strong season, averaging 19.1 points while shooting 42.5 percent from the field. 

Why West Virginia Will Beat Utah

This game is going to be lower-scoring.  West Virginia’s offense has been inconsistent as of late, and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. West Virginia has been able to put the pressure on the defense when they want to, and that’s exactly what they are going to do here. There will be a ton of missed shots here, and the under is going to cash.

Give me Utah here on the road. Even though Oklahoma State has done well at home this season, they can’ be trusted, and that is going to be the difference here. Utah is averaging 76.5 points per game and they are going to have no issue running up the scor where. Utah comes into this matchup with the home court advantage and they are looking for their third win in a row. The Utes are shooting 47% from the field and they are scoring 80.6 points per game this year. Utah has been up and down defensively this season, but they have allowed 65 and 62 points in their last two games. BYU finally snapped that losing streak with a win over Oklahoma State, but they didn’t play very well in the second half of that game. The Cougars almost have identical offensive numbers to Utah, but they are allowing about three points fewer against per game this year. This should be a fun rivalry game between two evenly matched teams, but I think it is going to be on the lower scoring end, so give me the under here.

The Utah Utes have had issues getting stops at times this season and haven’t had any success outside of their home area. All nine of Utah’s wins this season have come at home. Utah is also 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games. The TCU Horned Frogs have been in a lot of dog fits this season and are just 5-10 ATS on the year. However, TCU has seen all nine of its wins come at home, and it’s fresh off possibly the biggest win of the season, a small upset over BYU. The line is reasonable, as I’d need more points to pull the trigger with Utah on the road. Give me the TCU Horned Frogs in a nice home win on Wednesday night.

They are averaging 18.2 free throws per game which is 19th in the league. Abou Ousmane has been the top player for Oklahoma State and he is averaging 12.9 points while shooting 54.7 percent from the field. Marchelus Avery is also having a strong season and he is averaging 12.6 points while shooting 41.7 percent from the field. 

Why Oklahoma State Will Beat Utah

Utah is having some major issues right now and they have lost four games in a row. In the last game against Iowa State, Utah scored 59 points, but the defense gave up 82 points and that led to the defeat. Utah shot 36.1 percent ferom the field and 24.1 percent from behind the three point line. They only got to the free throw line 13 times while they sent Iowa State to the line 29 times. They need to try and figure out that point differential here. Two games ago against Texas Tech, Utah scored 65 points and that led to the blowout defeat. 

Utah is averaging 81 points while their defense is giving up 71.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 63rd in the league while the defense is ranked 167th. They are averaging 62.29 field goals per game which is 64th in the league. Guard Gabe Madsen is averaging 16.7 points while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the three point line. 

Utah vs Oklahoma State Prediction

These are two teams have had issues this season and honestly trusting both of these teams is a scary though, which is why we are going to take the underdog here. Utah has lost four games in a row and they really looked lost on the court, especially with the defense. Utah has lost three games in a row and they have allowed 93+ points in two of those games. The Utes have had a very solid offensive attack to start the season, but the defense needs to show a lot of improvement. If this game was in Utah, they may have a chance to keep it competitive, but I just don’t see it here. Take the Cyclones.
