Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles got off to a good start early in the year. That said, Boston College has had a pretty choppy record since late November or so. After wins in six of their first seven outings, the Eagles lost to Dartmouth, South Carolina and Wake Forest before a 3-1 stretch that featured a lone loss to SMU. Otherwise Boston College took out Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson and Miami during that stretch. Losses to Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia and North Carolina came next before a win over Florida State. The Eagles would then fall to Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame and NC State before wins over Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. Since then it’s been three straight losses versus Stanford, Cal and Clemson. Overall that gives Boston College a 12-18 record across 30 games this season.

In the Clemson matchup on Wednesday, the Eagles came out of halftime sporting a 49-39 deficit. Boston College managed a 30-29 advantage the rest of the way but still lost handily 78-69 in the end. Jayden Hastings was the team’s leading scorer on 18 points with five rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Elijah Strong added 15 points with six rebounds and one block in 26 minutes, while Dion Brown also finished in double-figures with 14 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Joshua Beadle added six points with two rebounds in 16 minutes of work off the bench during the defeat.

Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Preview

Over on the Pittsburgh side, they were looking pretty good in early January but since then it’s been a messy stretch amid some tough matchups. The Panthers won 12 of their first 14 games though, taking out Radford, Murray State, Gardner-Webb, West Virginia, VMI, LSU, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Eastern Kentucky, Sam Houston, Cal and Stanford in that time. Next came a 2-8 run with wins over Syracuse and North Carolina amid losses to Duke, Louisville, Florida State, Clemson, Wake Forest, Virginia, North Carolina and SMU. Following wins over Miami and Syracuse, Pittsburgh has since fallen to Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Louisville and NC State in succession, giving the Panthers a 16-14 record in their 30 games so far this year.

Matched up against NC State on the road Wednesday, the Panthers came out of the break with a four-point deficit. Pitt didn’t end up getting any closer on a 37-33 second-half run and took the loss in the end 71-63. Topping the scorers during the defeat was Jaland Lowe with 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Cameron Corhen added 13 points with four rebounds, one steal and one block in 32 minutes. Ishmael Legget had 12 points with six rebounds and four turnovers, while Amsal Delalic had all the team’s bench scoring (nine points) with one rebound and one steal in 25 minutes of action on the floor during the loss.

• Boston College has lost nine of its last 10 night games.
• Pittsburgh has won 15 of its last 17 night games at Petersen Events Center.
• Boston College has lost the first half in each of its last nine road games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Pittsburgh vs Boston College Prediction

I’ll stick with Pitt, but I’m probably avoiding this one. The Panthers are coming off a fairly ineffectual road loss to NC State, shooting a tepid 41.2 percent from the field with 14 turnovers for 15 Wolfpack points. Pittsburgh did hold NC State to 40.7 percent shooting on the other side, but the Wolfpack made up for it with a nice performance from the line (17-of-21 for 81 percent). That gives the Panthers four straight losses, with three of those coming on the road. Pitt has won two of their last three at home, though.

As for Boston College, they’ve given up 78 or more points in three straight. Pittsburgh should have some good looks offensively here, and if they can take advantage I like a strong showing.

Clemson Tigers Betting Preview

The Tigers had one spotty run going in December and January this year, but aside from that it’s been a pretty great season record-wise. Clemson lost just once in their first 10 games, dropping to Boise State on the road on November 17. Consecutive losses to Memphis and South Carolina came next, then wins over Wake Forest, Stanford, and Cal. Following another loss to Louisville, Clemson took out Florida State, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and NC State in the next six before falling to Georgia Tech. Since then it’s been six more wins over Duke, North Carolina, Florida State, SMU, Notre Dame, and Virginia. After 29 games so far that gives the Tigers a 24-5 overall record this season.

In the Virginia game on Saturday, the Tigers came out of the first half with a five-point deficit 32-27. Clemson recovered well in the second however, posting a 44-26 run for a comeback victory 71-58 in the end. Ian Schieffelin led the team with a double-double of 21 points with 13 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Viktor Lakhin added 14 points with eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while Jaeden Zackery put up 12 points with three rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes of action on the court.

Over on the Boston College side, they weren’t looking too bad in the record column as January began, but since then it’s been a pretty rough run against some tough opponents. The Eagles managed a 9-5 record across their first 14 outings, losing to VCU, Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and SMU along the way. Losses to Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia, and North Carolina came next, then a win over Florida State. It’s been a 2-6 run since then with wins over Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech among losses to Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame, NC State, Stanford, and California. That gives Boston College a 12-17 overall record in their first 29 games of the 2024-25 campaign so far.

Matched up against California in their Saturday outing, the Eagles posted a 42-31 deficit by halftime. Boston College kept the pace from there on a 40-40 run but couldn’t gain any ground in an 82-71 loss. Donald Hand was the high team scorer with 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Dion Brown managed to double up with 12 points, three steals, two assists, and 10 rebounds, while Luka Toews came off the bench for 14 points in 14 minutes of work.

I’ll lean toward Clemson. The Tigers are cooking right now and coming off a solid win over Virginia on the road—despite a slow start. Clemson ended up shooting a nice 47.3 percent from the field with a 38-28 rebounding edge and just seven turnovers in that one. That said, the Tigers did go just 1-of-10 (10 percent) from 3-point range, though. Still, that makes six straight victories for Clemson with 71 or more points in each. The Tigers have lost just one game since January 7 and have become one of the more potentially dangerous teams in the nation.

As for Boston College, they shot just 39.7 percent from the field in their loss to California over the weekend, notching a 40-36 rebounding deficit with 11 turnovers for 14 Bears points. Boston College has now lost consecutive games, giving up a combined 160 points in that pair. The Eagles should get a bit of a lift from playing at home on Wednesday, but I don’t think they’ll keep much of a pace with Clemson in the end.

Andrej Stojakovic is averaging 17.3 points and 4.6 rebounds, while Jeremiah Wilkinson is averaging 14.8 points and 1.4 assists. BJ Omot is the third double-digit scorer and Jovan Blacksher Jr. is grabbing 2.2 rebounds. The Cal Golden Bears are shooting 32 percent from beyond the arc and 74.8 percent from the free throw line. The Cal Golden Bears are allowing 37.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 32.8 rebounds per game.

Boston College doesn’t have a player listed on its injury report. Cal will be without BJ Omot, while Joshua Ola-Joseph and Devin Curtis are questionable.

Neither Cal nor Boston College is playing good basketball right now, so I’m not excited to back either team, especially in the favorite role. However, Cal is at home, where 10 of its 12 wins have come. It’s also senior night for a Cal roster that has four seniors. Boston College has yet to win a road game this season. Cal is also a profitable 15-11-2 ATS on the season. It’s Cal or pass, as there’s much better options out there on a stacked Saturday CBB card.

Stanford will be without Derin Saran due to a lower-body injury. Kany Tchanda is questionable for Boston College due to an illness.

The Stanford Cardinal are easily the better team, and they’ve been dominant at home this season with a 14-2 record. Boston College has issues scoring and has yet to win a road game this season. With all that said, Boston College has covered four straight games which includes upset wins over Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. The Stanford Cardinal are winning but has failed to cover each of its last seven games. That includes upset losses to Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. Stanford hasn’t covered a game since January 25. I’ll take a shot with Boston College and the points on Wednesday.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

Georgia Tech has had quite the up-and-down season so far, and they’ve been fighting off the .500 mark most of the way. The Jackets kicked things off with an 8-7 run featuring wins over West Georgia, Texas Southern, Charleston Southern, Central Arkansas, UMBC, Alabama A&M, Notre Dame and Boston College. The losses came versus North Florida, Georgia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Northwestern and Duke otherwise. Georgia Tech would then hit a 1-5 run with losses to Syracuse, SMU, Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame. Since then it’s been a 4-1 run though, with a lone loss to Virginia. Otherwise the Yellow Jackets have dispatched Louisville, Clemson, Stanford and Cal in that time. That gives Georgia Tech a 13-13 overall run through their first 26 games of the year so far.

In the California home matchup last weekend, the Yellow Jackets posted a 39-34 halftime advantage. Georgia Tech gave it up in the second though, and needed overtime to power out the 90-88 victory in the end. The Jackets were led by Baye Ndongo’s double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds, as well as Naithan George on 26 points, eight assists, three boards, one steal and one block. Also in double-figures was Duncan Powell with 19 points, six rebounds and one steal. Jaeden Mustaf added eight points off the bench as well.

Boston College went 9-5 in their first 14 games, taking out the Citadel, Temple, Loyola MD, Old Dominion, Missouri State, Boise State, Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson and Miami along the way (with losses otherwise to VCU, Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest and SMU). Boston College is just 2-10 since then. The losses in that time came versus Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame and NC State. All in all Boston College is sitting at 11-15 through 26 games so far this season.

Matched up versus Virginia Tech on Tuesday, the Eagles jumped out to a dominant 26-11 halftime advantage. Boston College kept it going from there with a 28-25 run and took the victory 54-36 at home. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Donald Hand, who finished with 16 points, two rebounds and one assist. Chad Venning chipped in eight points with four rebounds, and Jayden Hastings came off the bench for eight points in 15 minutes of work.

Boston College vs Georgia Tech Prediction

I’ll just stay with Georgia Tech here. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a nice win over a persistent Cal team, but there’s plenty to clean up. Georgia Tech shot a stellar 54.7 percent from the field with 32 rebounds in that one, but they also gave up 50 percent shooting on the other side and had 14 turnovers for 16 Bears points. Still, it goes down as a victory and Georgia Tech has now posted five wins in the last seven outings.

When these teams first met back on January 4, Georgia Tech pulled off a pretty routine 85-64 win at home. The Yellow Jackets shot extremely well in that one also (58.5 percent) but weren’t so hot from the line (15-of-27 for 55.6 percent). The 18 points off 13 Eagles turnovers also helped quite a bit, but Georgia Tech can’t rely on mistakes this time. Still, if the shooting stays hot and the Jackets can hit the boards well (not to mention hit a few foul shots), I think Georgia Tech will be okay in the road rematch.

Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Preview

It’s been a choppy run overall in the record books for the Hokies so far, and they’re currently sitting below the .500 mark overall. Virginia Tech opened on a 5-8 run through their first 13 outings, beating only Delaware State, USC Upstate, Winthrop, North Carolina A&T, and Navy among losses to Penn State, Jacksonville, Michigan, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Saint Joseph’s and Duke. A 3-4 run came next with wins over Miami, Cal, and NC State among losses to Stanford, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. Since then it’s been a 3-2 run over the last five outings with wins over Florida State, Virginia, and Notre Dame. The losses otherwise have come versus SMU and Virginia. That gives Virginia Tech an 11-14 overall run through their first 25 games of the 2024-25 campaign.

In their Saturday matchup with Virginia, the Hokies were down by seven points heading into the second half. Virginia Tech got better from there on a 37-33 run but ended up taking the loss at the end 73-70. Leading the team in the defeat was Tobi Lawal with his 23 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Ben Hammond added 11 points with three assists in 26 minutes as the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures. Tyler Johnson got close though, putting up nine points with four boards and a pair of steals in the loss.

Otherwise, it’s been losses to Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and NC State. That gives the Eagles a 10-15 overall run through their first 25 outings of the season.

Matched up against NC State on Saturday, the Eagles came out of the locker room facing a 44-29 deficit. Boston College got better from there on a 33-26 run but ended up losing in the end 70-62. Tops in scoring was Donald Hand with 22 points, six rebounds, and three turnovers in 35 minutes of work. Chad Venning added 14 points with eight rebounds and one steal with one block. Chas Kelley put up 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds off the bench as well.

I’ll lean toward Virginia Tech I suppose. The Hokies are coming off a home loss to a middling Virginia team though, despite hitting 46 percent from the field and staying pretty competitive on the boards. Virginia Tech coughed up 10 turnovers for 17 Cavaliers points though, which is what really buried them in the defeat. The good news is that Virginia Tech is still scoring pretty well these days; they’ve got 70 or more points in four of the last five outings—a 3-2 run.

As for Boston College, they never really got going in their latest loss to NC State, notching a rough 35.4 percent shooting and 16 turnovers for 15 Wolfpack points. That makes four straight losses for the Eagles, but they’ve been competitive in a couple of those. Still, I don’t think they’ll power past Virginia Tech.

The NC State Wolfpack should be favored because they’re at home, where all nine of their wins this season have come. However, this is a thick line for a NC State team that’s lost nine of its last 10 games and 8-16 ATS on the season. NC State has scored 66 or fewer points in eight of its last 10 games, which makes it hard to lay big numbers. Yes, Boston College isn’t much better, but we’re also not being asked to lay nearly nine points. Also, Boston College is coming off a decent performance where it almost upset Notre Dame. It’s BC and the points or pass for me.

I’m with Boston College here. There are a lot of better betting opportunities on Wednesday’s card, but I saw this line being of the belief that Notre Dame, in their current form, shouldn’t be laying points against anyone. Boston College has been decent at home and while they haven’t had a great run in conference play, they’ve been competitive in spots and Notre Dame has just fallen off of the map in the last couple of weeks. I think that Notre Dame has a good chance of actually losing this game outright, so I’ll take Boston College and the points and sprinkle a small amount on Boston College ML as well.

Over on the Syracuse side, they came out of the gate this year with three straight wins over Le Moyne, Colgate and Youngstown State but they’ve been unable to win more than two in succession since then. The Orange lost eight of their next 11 games versus Texas, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Maryland, Wake Forest and Florida State. A 3-1 run came next with a lone loss to Louisville among wins over Georgia Tech, Boston College and Notre Dame. Following losses to Clemson, Pittsburgh and Stanford, the Orange stopped the bleeding with a win over California then fell to Duke, giving Syracuse a 10-13 record so far this season through 23 outings.

In the Duke matchup over the weekend, the Orange were in trouble after the first half facing a 37-23 deficit. Syracuse didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 46-31 second-half run and lost 83-54 in blowout fashion by game’s end. Both Jyare Davis (three rebounds; one assist) and JJ Starling (three rebounds; two assists) led the way with 12 points apiece. Tops off the bench (and the only other team player in double-figures) was Naheem McLeod with 10 points and two rebounds in 22 minutes of action.

I’ll stay with Boston College. I’m probably not touching this one, though. Both teams have been pretty sketchy lately. The Eagles shot a poor 38.3 percent from the field versus Louisville in their latest loss, giving up 50 percent on the other side along with a 44-32 rebounding deficit. The 14 turnovers for 16 Cardinals points didn’t help matters, either. Boston College has been giving up truckloads of points lately: 74 or more in eight straight games (a 1-7 run).

These teams last saw each other not too long ago on January 11. That one was a 79-71 road win for the Orange. Both teams rebounded well (36 apiece) and kept the turnovers minimal (11 total) in something of an offensively heavy game. The Orange shot slightly better (49.2 percent) than the Eagles (43.5 percent) and looked better from the line. Boston College has plenty to clean up in the road rematch, but I think they can do it if all goes well.

I’m on Louisville in this game. I think the last game was just a blip for the Cardinals more than anything else. The Cardinals have been deadly from behind the arc in ACC play which was non-existent for the early part of their schedule in non-conference play, but as this team’s gotten comfortable, it’s been a lot easier to back them and on the road as well. Boston College has struggled in making the step up in competition against the better teams that they’ve gone up against and I think this is a good opportunity for a bounce back here for Louisville. Give me the Cardinals laying the wood here.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

Boston College posted a pretty good run out of the gate this year. The Eagles would quickly fall on hard times however, and they’ve only been able to put together one decent (and brief) run since late November. Boston College beat the Citadel, Temple, Loyola Maryland, Old Dominion, Missouri State and Boise State (with a loss to VCU) during a 6-1 opening. A 1-4 stretch ensued with losses to Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest and SMU amid a lone win over Stonehill. Following two wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Miami, Boston College has since lost consecutive outings versus Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke and Virginia, giving the team a sub-.500 run at 9-10 through the first 19 games of the season so far.

In the Virginia matchup on Tuesday, the Eagles came out of the break looking up at a 41-23 deficit on the scoreboard. Boston College kept the pace from there on a 33-33 run and ended up taking the loss 74-56. Tops on the team was Fredy Payne, who notched 17 points, three steals and one assist in 29 minutes off the bench during the loss. Chad Venning put up 14 points with five boards to lead the starters, and Dion Brown had 11 points with six boards.

North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview

Over on the North Carolina side, they entered the season on a shaky .500 run through their first eight games. The Tar Heels have gotten better since then however, with only one instance of consecutive losses after December 4. UNC went 4-4 to start out, falling to Kansas, Auburn, Michigan State and Alabama with wins over Elon, American U, Hawaii and Dayton in those first eight outings. A 4-1 run came next with a lone loss to Florida amid wins over Georgia Tech, La Salle, UCLA and Campbell. Following another loss to Louisville, North Carolina beat Notre Dame, SMU, NC State and California. Since then it’s been a pair of consecutive losses to Stanford and Wake Forest, giving the Tar Heels a 12-8 overall run so far this year.

Matched up against Wake Forest on Tuesday, the Tar Heels went into the break sporting a 31-29 edge. North Carolina was outscored 38-35 the rest of the way however, giving the team a tough loss 67-66 in the end. Leading the scoring for UNC was RJ Davis with 21 points, two steals and one assist. Elliot Cadeau doubled up with 14 points, 13 assists, five rebounds and two steals. Leading the bench players was Van-Allen Lubin with six points and seven boards.

North Carolina vs Boston College Prediction

I’m going to stay with the Tar Heels, but realistically the line’s too thick to mess with. UNC has had a couple of bad one-point losses in their last pair, most recently on the road versus Wake Forest. North Carolina shot just 40 percent from the field in that one and got outmuscled on the boards 41-33 alongside 12 turnovers for 11 Deacons points. The four missed free throws (out of 10 total) ended up being very costly. All in all, that gives UNC a 4-2 run over the last six games, with the two losses each coming by a single point. This is a good matchup for stopping the bleeding in the record column, though.

As for Boston College, they were pretty rough the whole game versus a middling Virginia squad in their last outing. The Eagles were out-rebounded 30-23 and had 15 turnovers for 11 Cavaliers points. Boston College has given up 74 or more points in five straight games, so UNC shouldn’t have too many issues putting up points on Saturday.

The Eagles have been run out of the gym by less than what they’re up against here, and I have no desire to step in front of Duke right now, especially when backing Boston College is the alternative. Eagles got the year started on a nice run, but they’ve had a few difficulties since late November. On Saturday versus Syracuse, the Eagles stayed steady in the first half but faded after that. Boston College went into the locker room with a 32-32 tie, then gave up 47 more points in a 79-71 loss in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the defeat was Donald Hand with 20 points and nine rebounds. Both Chad Venning and Joshua Beadle added 17 points apiece, combining for six assists and eight rebounds. The only bench scoring came from Roger McFarlane (four rebounds) and Chas Kelley, who each contributed three points in the loss.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

Over on the Notre Dame side, their year opened with a similar run of victories and they’ve likewise struggled since late November. The Irish took out Stonehill, Buffalo, Georgetown, and North Dakota in their first four games. The next five were all losses though, as Notre Dame dropped to Elon, Rutgers, Houston, Creighton, and Georgia in that time. Three straight wins ensued over Syracuse, Dartmouth, and Le Moyne. Notre Dame would fall in the next trio to Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and NC State, however, leaving them at 7-8 overall this year.

In their matchup with Duke over the weekend, the Fighting Irish trailed 44-36 at the break. Notre Dame kept the pace from there on a 42-42 run but eventually lost 86-76 by the end of the game. Tops in scoring was Markus Burton, who posted 23 points, five boards, two assists, and four turnovers during the losing effort. Braeden Shrewsberry added 14 points with three rebounds and four assists, while Tae Davis had 11 points with four boards and two assists. Coming off the bench for 11 points and two rebounds was Sir Mohammed in 15 minutes.

I’ll stick with Notre Dame, but you could make a case either way. It’ll be an interesting matchup, to say the least. The Irish played pretty well against a great Duke team on Saturday, all things considered. Notre Dame shot 47.4 percent from the field in that one with a nice 58.3 percent (10-of-16) from outside and just seven turnovers. The two big discrepancies were in rebounding (a 34-21 deficit) and foul shooting (10-of-16 for 62.5 percent), which certainly didn’t help their cause. That said, Notre Dame isn’t scoring too badly these days, even with the four-game losing streak. They’ve hit 73 or more points in three of those outings, and another 70-plus points outing here would put the Irish in a good position.

As for Boston College, they were careful with the ball (six turnovers) and solid on the boards (36 rebounds) in their loss to Syracuse, but also shot just 4-of-16 (25 percent) from 3-point range and 65 percent from the line. The Eagles have 71 or more points in five of the last six games themselves, so Notre Dame is going to have to push on offense in order to keep the cover pace here.

Syracuse did just beat that same Georgia Tech team at home and they are shooting 45.5% from the field, but they are allowing 78.1 points against per game this year on defense. The Orange have allowed 81 points or more in three of their last five games, so I expect Boston College to have a very solid day on offense. I don’t really care for either team in this matchup, but I have to side with Boston College, as Syracuse has not won on the road so far this year.

Boston College Looks for Third Straight Win

Boston College has some confidence right now and they have won two straight games. Two games ago against FDU, Boston College secured a 78-70 victory, and in the last game against the Miami Hurricanes, they were able to secure a 78-68 victory. Against Miami, Boston College looked to be in all sorts of trouble at halftime as they were down 41-29. In the second half though, Boston College scored 49 points and they ended up cruising to the victory. The Eagles had five different players that put up at least 10 points and that was enough for the win. Forward Chad Venning had a huge game putting up 17 points and five rebounds to pace the team. 

Boston College is averaging 71.8 points, while their defense is giving up 71.4 points per game. The offense is ranked 270th in the league while the defense is ranked 194th. As a team, they are averaging a little over 18 three-pointer attempts from deep per game which is 342nd in the the league. Guard Donald Hand Jr is having a huge season and he is averaging 14.9 points while shooting 37.5 percent from the field. Dion Brown is dealing with illnesses and is questionable in this game. 

Georgia Tech Looks for Fifth Straight Win

Georgia Tech has confidence right now, and they have won four games in a row. In the last game against Notre Dame, Georgia Tech scored 86 points and that was enough for the 11-point victory. At halftime, they were up 43-24 and in the second half, they were able to secure the win. There were five different players for Georgia Tech that put up at least 10 points. Javian McCollum had a strong game putting up 21 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Duncan Powell also put up 21 points, three rebounds, and two assists. 

Georgia Tech on the season is averaging 76.8 points per game while their defense is giving up 73.2 points per game. The offense is ranked 148th in the league while the defense is ranked 238rd. They are currently averaging 61.2 field goal attempts per game which is 80th. Guard Lance Terry is having a strong season and is currently averaging 15.3 points while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. Luke Bryant Jr is dealing with a foot injury and is questionable for this game. Kowacie Reeves Jr is dealing with an ankle injury and is out until the middle of this month. 

Why Georgia Tech Will Beat Boston College

Boston College won the last game but it took a big second half to get the job done. Boston College got out to a slow start in that game and it’s going to be much of the same here. Georgia Tech on the other hand is going to get out to a fast start with the offense, and that is going to end up being enough. Big Game for Boston College 

Boston College hasn’t had the best start to the season, but they are coming off a win, and they are going to try to build on that. A loss here would also not be a good sign for the rest of the season. Boston College faced off against Fairleigh Dickinson, and they scored 78 points and that was enough for the eight-point victory. Guard Donald Hand Jr had a strong game, putting up 29 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. Chad Venning also was good, putting up 18 points, five rebounds, and one assist.

Boston College is averaging 71.3 points while their defense is giving up 71.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 280th in the league, while the defense is ranked 200th. The defense is going to need to find a way to get going early and really try to put pressure on the Miami defense.

Coaching Change for Miami

There was a big coaching change this week for Miami as Jim Larranaga decided to step down and Bill Courtney has been named the interim coach for the rest of the season. It’s not all that shocking for the coaching change with the way Miami has struggled to start the season. The last game for the Hurricanes came before Christmas against Mount St Mary’s, and they scored 74 points, but the defense gave up 78 points which led to the defeat. Guard Matthew Cleveland had a strong game, putting up 19 points and six rebounds. The Hurricanes shot 40.6 percent from the field but only 20 percent from the deep.

The Hurricanes on the season are averaging 78.7 points, while their defense is giving up 74 points per game. The offense is ranked 111th in the league, while the defense is ranked 256th. Nijel Pack has been the top player for Miami this season, averaging 13.9 points while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from behind the three-point line.

I expect Miami is going to get one of those boosts that teams often see when they fire a coach, and they are going to have a big game here. This Miami team is still very talented, led by Nijel Pack, and he’s going to have a huge game here. Miami on the season is still averaging 78.7 points per game, and they are going to get the offense out to a fast start here.

Boston College is looking for their third straight win and they should have a ton of confidence heading into this game. Boston College in the last game faced off against Pittsburgh and they scored 34 points and ended up winning by 11 points. Grayson James completed 20 of his 28 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Nebraska is Finally Back in a Bowl Game

Nebraska is finally back in a bowl game and they hope to finish the season on a high note. The last game for Nebraska came against Iowa and it wasn’t a good game. The offense only managed 10 points and even though the defense gave up 13 points, they still ended up losing. Dylan Raiola was up and down his freshman season and against Iowa he completed 22 of his 32 passes for 190 yards. Emmett Johnson finished with 18 carries for 71 yards. Two games ago against Wisconsin, Nebraska scored 44 points and they need to get the offense out to a fast start. Nebraska is averaging 23.8 points while their defense is giving up 19.8 points per game. 

Nebraska vs Boston College Prediction

Give me Boston College here. I still am not sold on this Nebraska team, especially Raiola. Boston College is averaging 29.2 points per game and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. Nebraska’s offense isn’t going to have any answer, and that is going to be the difference here as Boston College is going to get the job done. I think Boston College will win this game outright, but we will take the points.

Stonehill Skyhawks Betting Preview

Stonehill limped to a 2-4 opening run, falling to Notre Dame, Providence, Robert Morris, and Lindenwood in that time. Since then it’s been a 4-1 stretch for the Skyhawks with wins over Bryant, East Texas A&M, Quinnipiac, and Lesley.

Matched up against Lesley on Wednesday, the Skyhawks didn’t have any issues. Stonehill hit a 57-22 first half and closed on 40 more points for a 97-53 blowout. Louie Semona was tops on 24 points and five rebounds in the victory.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

Over on the Boston College side, they beat the Citadel, Temple, Loyola MD, Old Dominion, Missouri State, and Boise State in their first seven games. Since then it’s been losses to Dartmouth, South Carolina, and Wake Forest.

In the Wake Forest game last weekend, the Eagles were down by three going into the second half. Boston College didn’t get any closer in an eventual loss 72-66. Topping the team in scoring was Elijah Strong with 18 points and four boards. Boston College will face SMU, FDU, and Miami following this one. 

Why the Boston College Eagles will win

• Boston College has won each of its last 12 games against the Northeast Conference.
• Stonehill has lost each of its last 12 away games when playing with a rest disadvantage.
• Boston College has won the first half in seven of its last eight games against non-conference opponents at Silvio O. Conte Forum.

Why the Stonehill Skyhawks will win

• Stonehill has won each of its last four games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
• Boston College has lost four of its last five day games.
• Stonehill has won the first half in each of its last four day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Boston College vs Stonehill Prediction

I might take a stab at the Skyhawks here. Stonehill is coming off an easy Wednesday win, shooting 53.6 percent from the field with 53 rebounds versus Lesley. The Skyhawks have held opponents to fewer than 67 points in five of their six wins (74 in the outlier versus Quinnipiac), and they’ve scored a combined 185 points in their last pair. Sure, Boston College will be a tougher opponent, but Stonehill has already seen plenty of higher-tier competition this year.

Speaking of the Eagles, they shot a flat 36.8 percent from the field with 14 turnovers in their loss to Wake Forest. That makes just 117 combined points in the last pair for Boston College, versus 145 points allowed. If all goes well, Stonehill might be able to sneak in there for a cover. The Skyhawks need to keep that shooting percentage up and keep the pace brisk, however.
