Colorado State comes into this matchup looking for their 12th straight win and they played a great second half against Memphis on Friday, but this Maryland team is going to be a big challenge. The Terrapins have won five of their last six games and they have scored 80+ points in three straight. Both teams have solid defensive numbers on the season, but I think Maryland has a big advantage here. Memphis Tigers Betting Preview

The Tigers barely survived against Wichita State and Tulane, and they trailed at halftime against UAB last time out. Colorado State has won 10 games in a row and they have been very impressive over the last few weeks. The Rams held Boise State to just 56 points in their last game and I think their defense will be the difference. Memphis is also dealing with some injury issues, which could be a big factor here. Both of these teams come into this matchup playing some outstanding basketball and they are both in the top four of the conference standings, but Boise State will have the home court advantage here. Boise State has allowed 65 points or fewer in three straight games, while Colorado State has allowed 66 points or fewer in four straight games, so this should be a defensive battle. Colorado State won the first meeting with Boise State by a score of 75-72, but I don’t think we are going to see that kind of scoring in this game. Both of these teams have been very focused on defense and I like this game to go under the total.

Colorado State Rams Betting Preview

The Rams posted a pretty middling record over their first 13 games, but since then they’re doing better. Colorado State hit a 7-6 run in that opening stretch, taking out North Dakota, Tennessee State, Denver, TCU, Loyola Marymount, Radford and Nevada during that time. Since then the Rams have been on a 10-3 run with losses to San Diego State, New Mexico and Utah State. The wins otherwise have come courtesy of San Jose State, Fresno State, UNLV, Wyoming, Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force, San Diego State, Wyoming and Nevada in succession. Overall that gives the Rams a 17-9 record through their first 26 games so far.

In the Nevada home matchup on Tuesday, the Rams came out of the locker room sporting a 36-33 deficit on the scoreboard. Colorado State woke up after that, taking a 46-35 run to the finish line in a 79-71 comeback win. Leading team scorer Nique Clifford put up 22 points with nine rebounds and five assists with one steal and one block. Jalen Lake had 14 points with five assists and two boards, while Rashaan Mbemba doubled up with 12 points, 10 rebounds and one block in 27 minutes. Bowen Born and Ethan Morton each had five points off the bench.

UNLV Rebels Betting Preview

Over on the Rebels’ side, they’ve been a mixed bag this year but so far they’ve been able to keep their heads above the .500 mark in the record column. UNLV went 5-5 over their first 10 outings, beating Alabama State, Omaha, Pepperdine, New Mexico State and Pacific in that time. A 6-2 run came next with losses to Boise State and Colorado State among wins over UC Riverside, Fresno State, Air Force, San Jose State, Utah State and San Diego State. Following losses to Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah State, Nevada and Boise State in the next five, the Rebels took out Wyoming, Air Force and Fresno State in a three-game stretch. In total that gives UNLV a 14-12 record across the first 26 games of the year.

Matched up against Fresno State in their last outing, UNLV was up by eight points going into the second half. The Rebels had to scramble from there but still managed to pull off the road win 52-51 in the end. Jaden Henley led the starters with his 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes on the floor. Jailen Bedford had 13 bench points with six rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes. Julian Rishwain chipped in with eight points and four boards as well.

UNLV vs Colorado State Prediction

I’ll take a stab on UNLV here. The Rebels were less than impressive versus a struggling Fresno State team in their last game though, so we’ll need to see a return to form on Saturday. In their latest win UNLV shot just 33.8 percent from the field with 13 turnovers for 11 Bulldogs points. The Rebels did post a 45-40 rebounding advantage though, and held Fresno State to just 30.4 percent shooting on the other side. That makes three straight wins for UNLV, but they’ve been below 69 points in two of those.

The Rebels took an 84-62 blowout road loss the last time these teams saw each other back on January 11. UNLV shot just 41.7 percent from the field in that one while giving up 56.6 percent to the Rams. The 10 turnovers for 15 Colorado State points didn’t help either. I like the home environment to serve UNLV here, and I think they can power out a cover if all goes well.

The Nevada Wolf Pack beat San Jose State and Fresno State, and they play Boise State, Wyoming, and UNLV next. Nevada is also playing some of its best ball of the season, which includes a 4-0 SU and ATS record in its last four games. Nevada has allowed less than 70 points in each of its last six games. This should be a tight one. Give me Nevada and the points.

That gives Colorado State a 15-8 overall record through 23 games so far.

In the San Diego State home rematch back on Saturday, the Rams came out of the first half with a 38-35 edge. Colorado State hit a 30-28 run the rest of the way during a 68-63 victory. Leading the team in scoring was Nique Clifford with 21 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two assists. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson added 10 points with four rebounds, while Kyan Evans chipped in nine points with six boards and a block in 26 minutes of work.

Utah State Aggies Betting Preview

Over on the Utah State side, they came into the season on a nice run and have pretty much-maintained form since then. The Aggies have only a few scattered losses in the books. Wins over Alcorn State, Charlotte, Westminster UT, Montana, Iowa, St. Bonaventure, North Texas, Wyoming, Utah Tech, and South Florida came in the first 10 games, then a loss to UC San Diego. Utah State would then beat Saint Mary’s, San Diego State, Nevada, Fresno State, San Jose State, and Boise State before another loss to UNLV. Since then it’s been a 5-1 stretch with a loss to New Mexico amid wins over Nevada, Air Force, UNLV, Wyoming, and Fresno State, giving the Aggies a 21-3 record across their first 24 outings this year.

I’ll stick with Utah State. The Aggies didn’t have a ton of trouble with a struggling Fresno State team in their last outing, though they did slow down in the second half on the way to 14 turnovers. Utah State shot a nice 61.7 percent from the field in that one with a 38-25 rebounding edge. The 10-of-20 (50 percent) from the line wasn’t helpful at all, though. The Aggies have been below 64 points in two of their three losses this year, so if they can hit the 70-point mark or so in this one they’ll be in great shape.

As for Colorado State, they’ve been on a pretty good run themselves with 68 or more points in five of the last six games (all five were wins). The Rams got some home revenge against San Diego State in their last matchup, which should give the team some momentum heading into this game. That said, Utah State should still be in control.

New Mexico comes into this game with an 18-4 record overall and they have gone 11-10 against the spread. At home this season they have gone 9-1 straight up. The Lobos are averaging 83.4 points while their defense is giving up 72 points per game. The offense is ranked 19th in the league while the defense is ranked 201st in the league. This is a team that likes to push the pace, especially at home, if they get out to a fast start, and with the way The Pit gets going, they are hard to beat.

I’m with Colorado here. I just think the Rams are the better team and statistically, it’s a lot easier for me to see the path to offense for Colorado to be able to pull away in this game. The Rams are really good at shooting from the perimeter while Colorado State struggles to defend the 3, and the Buffaloes are solid at the foul line and Colorado State is giving up a lot of free throws. The Buffaloes are balanced defensively and I just don’t see a ton of offense from Colorado State here. Give me the Buffs at home.

Colorado State Rams Betting Preview

The Rams looked pretty good over their first three games of the season. Colorado State posted wins over North Dakota, Tennessee State, and Denver during that period. The last two outings have both been losses, however, as the Rams have fallen to Ole Miss and UC Riverside.

Matched up against UC Riverside on Friday, the Rams hit a 39-38 second-half advantage in order to force overtime but eventually lost a tough one 77-75. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson topped the team in the losing effort with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Washington Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the Huskies’ side, they opened up the year with a six-point win over UC Davis, then fell by 10 to Nevada in game two. Washington has since recovered with three straight victories, taking out Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, and Alcorn State in that trio.

I’ll lean toward Washington. The Huskies started a bit slowly in their last outing versus Alcorn State but eventually shot 49 percent from the field with 36 rebounds. The 13 turnovers didn’t help, but Washington kept the winless Braves under 40 percent shooting (39.7) on the other side. The Huskies’ lone loss (63-53) was their only appearance this year with fewer than 74 points, so we should see a pretty good total here if all goes well.

As for Colorado State, they’ve got consecutive losses in the bag after a pretty hot start. The Rams shot a tepid 40.3 percent in the loss to UC Riverside, but the major stat was their 51-30 rebounding deficit (15-5 offensive). Washington has been pretty consistent on the boards so far this year, so I like the Huskies to power out the win with a notable rebounding advantage on Thursday. Should be a fun matchup regardless, though.

Colorado State comes into this matchup trying to keep their undefeated conference record alive, as they have a great chance to make the conference championship game. The Rams have won four games in a row and they will be at home for this one. Wyoming has lost three of their last four games, but two of those losses came by five combined points. I don’t really like either team this season, but Wyoming’s defense is a concern and I have never liked taking Wyoming away from home. Take Colorado State here.
