I’m on the Rays here. I think both of these starters at their cores are better than their respective numbers so far this season, but I’m just not there with Sandy Alcantara. This is weird for me because I’ve been one of his biggest backers over the years, but this season it just looks like he doesn’t have it. You can excuse stumbles against teams like the Phillies and Dodgers, but to get crushed by the White Sox is hard to look past. The Rays are a better team across the board than what we saw in Friday’s opener, and behind a strong start from Rasmussen, I think they bounce back here. Give me the Rays.

However, we’ve been fading the White Sox over these last three seasons and have made a mountain of profit. Wilson hasn’t been good through 22.2 innings, allowing 32 hits and 14 runs while walking 11.

Meyer is a talented arm who has been rocked in his last two games, but he’s still allowed just 17 earned runs in 39 innings. Meyer’s respectable season numbers are why the Marlins are favored in this spot. Again, you’re forced to pick between two piles of garbage and try to figure out which one smells less. I’m not backing the White Sox. It’s Marlins or pass.

Marlins Continue to Struggle

The Marlins are having another bad season, and it looks like it’s going to be another long season down in South Florida. On Monday, the offense again had a late start, and that problem has continued to sneak up on them. Even worse, though, has been the pitching, and that again really cost them. 

The Marlins are averaging 4.45 runs per game while their pitching is giving up 6.09 runs per game. The offense is ranked 14th while the pitching is ranked 30th. Kyle Stowers has hit six home runs and driven in 25 RBIs. Getting the start for the Marlins will be Cal Quantrill, who sits with a 2-3 record and an ERA of 8.10. Against the LA Dodgers, he went 3.2 innings, giving up six hits and four runs. 

Another Strong Offensive Game for Dodgers 

It was another strong offensive game on Monday for the Dodgers as they scored seven runs on the way to the victory. Shohei Ohtani hasn’t slowed down the hitting, and he hit a home run and drove in two RBIs. The only real negative to come from the game was Yoendrys Gomez, who only recorded one out and gave up three hits and three runs. 

The Dodgers are averaging 5.35 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.12 runs per game. The offense is ranked 3rd while the pitching is ranked 12th. Teoscar Hernández has hit nine home runs and driven in 33 RBIs. Getting the start for the Dodgers will be Tony Gonsolin, who sis with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 4.50. Against the Miami Marlins in his last start, he went six innings, giving up six hits and three runs.
