Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Preview

The Cornhuskers had a couple of major losing streaks this year amid a tough Big Ten schedule. That said, Nebraska only lost two of their first 14 games versus Saint Mary’s and Michigan State. After that came a six-game losing streak versus Iowa, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, USC and Wisconsin. The Cornhuskers would go 5-1 over the next six games, falling to only Maryland during that time. The next five games were losses unfortunately, as Nebraska hit the skids versus Penn State, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State and Iowa during that time. In total that gives the Cornhuskers a 17-14 overall record across 31 games this year.

In their last appearance versus Iowa back on March 9, the Cornhuskers were down by five points heading into the break. Nebraska posted a 43-33 deficit the rest of the way and ended up falling 83-68 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Juwan Gary with 24 points, seven boards and one assist. Sam Hoiberg was the only other player to finish in double-figures with 12 points, one rebound and one assist. Tops off the bench was Andrew Morgan, who logged eight points with five rebounds in 15 minutes during the loss.

Over on the Arizona State side, they started out the season on a pretty good run, then hit the skids as the new year flipped over to 2025. The Sun Devils lost to only Gonzaga, Florida and BYU over their first 13 games, then took losses to Kansas, Baylor, UCF, Cincinnati and Iowa State in the next six outings. After a win over Colorado came losses to Arizona, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU, Houston, BYU, Utah, Arizona and Texas Tech to finish out the regular season. After a conference tournament loss to Kansas State, the Sun Devils were left with a rough 13-19 overall record in 32 games this season.

Matched up against Kansas State back on March 11 in the first round of the Big 12 Championship tournament, the Sun Devils were behind by seven points after the first half. Arizona State got better from there on a 35-33 run but ended up losing in the end 71-66. Leading the team in scoring was Alston Mason with 17 points, three assists and two rebounds. Shawn Phillips posted a double-double with 11 points, 14 boards and three assists, while both Basheer Jihad and Joson Sanon chipped in with 13 points apiece during the defeat.

I’m going to stay with Nebraska. Both teams could use a good showing here—too bad it’ll be the final game of the season (and another loss) for one of them. The Cornhuskers couldn’t keep pace on the scoreboard with Iowa in their latest outing, shooting just 34.9 percent from the field and 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from long range. Nebraska did well on the boards though (38 rebounds) and only had six turnovers, so it wasn’t a complete dud. That said, it’s been a pretty rough five-game losing streak for the Cornhuskers. They’ve been above 68 points just once in their last four, so it’d be nice to see a big total here.

As for Arizona State, they shot just 38.3 percent from the field and had 10 turnovers in their latest loss to Kansas State. The Sun Devils have just 123 combined points over their last pair, so they could use a shot in the arm on the scoreboard as well. Ultimately I like Nebraska to power one out here, but it’ll be a good matchup if both teams play to their capabilities.

I’m on Kansas State here. I get the case to be made for Arizona State, who looked a lot better In the rematch between these two teams this season. However, I still have concerns about Arizona State, who dismissed one of their top scorers BJ Freeman earlier this year and also lost their best big Jayden Quaintance because of injury. Kansas State peaked earlier in the year, but I still think this is a decent K-State team that is the better team by a fair margin in this matchup. Give me the Wildcats here.

The Sun Devils started off the year on a nice run, but it’s been a tough road since early January record-wise. Arizona State hit a 10-3 opening stretch across their first 13 games though, falling to only Gonzaga, Florida, and BYU during that time. That would give the Sun Devils a 13-15 record across their first 28 games of the season.

In their Saturday game versus Utah, the Sun Devils held a slim edge going into the second half 43-41. Arizona State was buried from there on a 58-30 run though, eventually falling 99-73. Joson Sanon topped the team with 28 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Basheer Jihad added 16 points with three rebounds and one assist, while Alston Mason had 13 points with four rebounds and four assists.

Over on the Arizona side, they’ve had a couple of pretty rough runs this year but overall they’re doing fairly well. The Wildcats opened on a 4-5 stretch with losses to Duke, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and UCLA, then beat Samford, Central Michigan, TCU, Cincinnati, West Virginia, UCF, and Baylor before another loss to Texas Tech. After wins over Oklahoma State, Colorado, Iowa State, Arizona State, BYU and Texas Tech, Arizona hit a 2-3 run with wins over Baylor and Utah. The losses otherwise were versus Kansas State, Houston, and BYU, which would give the Wildcats a 19-9 record across their first 28 games this year.

Matched up against Iowa State on Saturday, the Wildcats were in trouble by halftime and facing a 43-30 deficit. Arizona didn’t get any closer than that in the end, posting a 41-37 run the rest of the way in an 84-67 loss. Jaden Bradley posted 18 points with two rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while KJ Lewis came off the bench for 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Caleb Love added 10 points with three assists in the defeat as well.

Arizona vs Arizona State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Arizona, but this should be a fun one regardless. Also, the line’s certainly thick enough to make a case for the Sun Devils. The Wildcats faced a tough matchup on the road versus a great Iowa State team this past weekend and ended up shooting just 33.3 percent from the field with 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) from 3-point range. Arizona kept pace on the boards 31-31 but also coughed up 14 turnovers for 19 Cyclones points. it’s been a choppy 2-4 run over the last half-dozen games for the Wildcats. They’ve given up 73 or more points in three of the four losses during that time but they’ve also hit 70 or more points in four of those six outings.

These teams have met once before, during an 81-72 road victory for the Wildcats back on February 1. In that one, neither team shot very well (both below 38 percent) and there were a combined 24 turnovers (13 for the Wildcats). That said, Arizona was able to power out the win thanks to a 52-38 rebounding advantage and an excellent 21-of-22 (95.5 percent) rate from the foul line. I’d like to think that both teams will shoot better on Tuesday in the rematch, with Arizona eventually powering it out at home. That said, the line’s generous enough to take a stab at the Sun Devils as well.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

The Sun Devils started out the year on a pretty nice clip, but they’ve struggled since early January. Arizona State went 10-3 over their first 13 outings, beating Idaho State, Santa Clara, Grand Canyon, St. Thomas MN, Cal Poly, New Mexico, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, UMass and Colorado in that time. The Sun Devils would go just 2-5 over the next seven with wins over West Virginia and Colorado among losses to Kansas, Baylor, UCF, Cincinnati and Iowa State. Another losing streak began from there versus Arizona, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU and Houston, but was stopped by a win over Kansas State. That would give the Sun Devils a 13-14 overall record across their first 27 games this season.

In their Wednesday matchup with BYU, Arizona State was down by 10 points at halftime. The Sun Devils kept the pace on a 44-44 run from there but ended up losing 91-81 in the end. Basheer Jihad topped the team in the defeat with 19 points and four rebounds.

Utah Utes Betting Preview

Over on the Utes’ side, they’re doing a bit better record-wise but they’ve also had a pretty choppy run overall. Utah kicked things off with an 8-2 run featuring wins over Alcorn State, Central Arkansas, Queens U, Utah Tech, MS Valley State, Eastern Washington, Radford and Florida A&M. A 3-6 stretch came next with wins over Oklahoma State, TCU and BYU among losses to Iowa, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Houston and Baylor again. The next eight were a 4-4 run with wins versus Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas and Kansas State among losses to Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Cincinnati and UCF in that time. In total across 27 games that would give the Utes a 15-12 overall record.

Matched up against Arizona on Wednesday, the Utes were down 46-32 going into the second half. Utah was outscored 37-34 the rest of the way, finishing off an 83-66 loss in the end. The Utes’ leading starter was Ezra Ausar with 18 points, five rebounds and one steal in 37 minutes on the floor. Gabe Madsen added 10 points with seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. Keanu Dawes was the team’s leading bench contributor on 18 points with 10 rebounds, one assist and one block in 26 minutes of work. Lawson Lovering chipped in with six points, four assists and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes as well.

I’ll lean toward Utah, but there’s not a lot to get excited about here with both teams struggling lately. The Utes were blitzed on the road versus a good Arizona team in their last game, posting just 33.9 percent shooting from the field with a 45-39 rebounding deficit. Utah also notched 12 turnovers for 19 Wildcats points, but did hold Arizona to a modest 41.3 percent shooting on the other side. The Utes have now lost consecutive games, giving up a combined 159 points in that pair. The good news for Utah is that they’re still scoring well lately with 72 or more points in four of the five games during this current 2-3 run.

As for Arizona State, they shot well (47.4 percent) and had just nine turnovers in their latest loss at home to BYU. Trouble is, the Sun Devils gave up 54.8 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent (17-of-34) from 3-point range while getting outmuscled on the boards 36-30. This matchup could go a lot of different ways, but I’m leaning slightly toward Utah at home.

Kansas State Keeps Struggling

Kansas State is suddenly struggling again while losing two games in a row. A couple of weeks ago, they had shown some signs of life, but now they are back to their terrible ways. Two games ago against BYU, they lost 80-65; in the last game against Utah, they lost 74-69. The defense gave up 42 points in the second half against Utah to get knocked off. Brendan Hausen had a strong game, putting up 17 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Kansas State shot 44 percent from deep, but it wasn’t enough. 

Kansas State has a 13-13 overall record, and at home, they have gone 9-3. The Wildcats are averaging 73.2 points, but their defense hasn’t been good enough. If the defense could make a few more stops every game, this might be a whole different season for the Wildcats. Kansas State also paid Coleman Hawkins way too much money to be the fourth-leading scorer. David N’Guessan is averaging 12.6 points while shooting 63.3 percent from the field.

I considered Arizona State and the points, but I just couldn’t do it. Arizona State has lost eight of its last 10 games, and the offense has taken a backseat in these losses. Arizona State also lost games it should’ve won, including games against TCU, Kansas State, and UCF, games in which the Sun Devils were favored. The Houston Cougars are one of the more balanced teams in the country, and this will be a beatdown if ASU doesn’t get its act together. Houston is also undefeated on the road through seven games. Give me Houston in a double-digit road victory.

TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview

TCU has been quite the choppy team in the record column so far this year. The team can’t quite seem to string together any significant win streaks amid a tough schedule. The Frogs opened things up with a 9-6 overall run, taking losses to Michigan, Santa Clara, Colorado State, Vanderbilt, Arizona and Houston in that time. The wins otherwise were versus Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast, Texas State, Alcorn State, Xavier, South Alabama, Montana State, Kansas State and BYU. A 1-4 run came next with a lone win over Baylor among losses to Utah, Kansas, UCF and Texas Tech. Since then the Horned Frogs are 3-1 in their last four with a lone loss to Iowa State. The wins in that quartet came courtesy of Colorado, West Virginia and Oklahoma State. That gives TCU a 13-11 overall run through their first 24 games this year.

In the Oklahoma State matchup on Wednesday, the Frogs went into the second half sporting a 38-31 advantage. TCU was outscored 41-35 the rest of the way but held on for the tight win 73-72. Vasean Allette led the team with 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists alongside one steal. Noah Reynolds added 13 points with eight assists and five rebounds. Micah Robinson also tallied 13 points off the bench along with his four rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes of work. Malick Diallo had 10 points with four rebounds off the bench as well.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Arizona State side, they were looking quite good as the calendar year flipped over to 2025. Since then however, the Sun Devils have struggled amid some difficult matchups. Arizona State hit a 10-3 opening run in their first 13 outings with losses to only Gonzaga, Florida and BYU in that time. Matched up against Texas Tech on Wednesday, the Sun Devils hit a one-point edge in the first half. Arizona State fought through two overtime periods but ultimately fell just short 111-106 in a tough road defeat. Leading the team in the loss was Adam Miller with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal. BJ Freeman added 21 points with three assists and three steals. Alston Mason added 16 points with six assists and two steals. Tops in bench scoring was Amier Ali with his 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 34 minutes.

I’m going to stick with Arizona State. All things considered we should have a pretty good matchup here, though. The Sun Devils pushed a good Texas Tech team to the limit in a tricky road matchup during their last outing, eventually shooting a nice 55.6 percent from the floor. Arizona State gave up 57.4 percent shooting on the other side though, along with a 38-27 rebounding deficit and 12 turnovers for 17 Red Raiders points. It was a valiant effort, but ultimately expanded the Sun Devils’ losing streak to four. They’ve posted 70 or more points in each of those games though, so I think Arizona State will notch a solid total here.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

Arizona State opened up on a great run heading into December. It’s been a pretty messy run in the record column since then, however. The Sun Devils won eight of their first nine games, falling to only Gonzaga among wins over Idaho State, Santa Clara, Grand Canyon, St. Thomas MN, Cal Poly, New Mexico, Saint Mary’s, and San Diego in that time. Otherwise, the Sun Devils have fallen to Iowa State, Arizona, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. That gives Arizona State a 12-11 overall record through their first 23 games of the season so far.

In the Oklahoma State matchup back on Sunday, the Sun Devils came out of the locker room with a 43-33 deficit. Arizona State didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 43-40 run and took the loss 86-73 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Alston Mason with 25 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Joson Sanon added 17 points with five rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Amier Ali chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for a double-double, while Basheer Jihad had 10 points with three assists and three steals.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview

Over on the Red Raiders’ side, they’ve been quite the steady team so far this year with no instances of consecutive losses yet. Texas Tech went 9-3 in their first dozen games with losses to Saint Joseph’s, Texas A&M, and UCF. The wins otherwise were over Bethune-Cookman, Northwestern State, Wyoming, AR-Pine Bluff, Syracuse, Northern Colorado, DePaul, Oral Roberts, and Lamar. After wins over Utah and BYU, the Raiders fell again to Iowa State in overtime. Texas Tech would take out Kansas State, Arizona, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston, and Baylor from there before falling versus Arizona over the weekend. That gives Texas Tech an 18-5 overall record this year through their first 23 outings.

Matched up versus Arizona on Saturday, the Raiders kicked off the game with a 39-37 deficit. Texas Tech didn’t end up getting closer on a 43-36 run from there and took the loss 82-73 by the end of the game. Leading the way with 21 points, 13 rebounds and two steals for a double-double was JT Toppin. Elijah Hawkins doubled up as well with 10 points and 12 assists, while Darrion Williams had 17 points with three steals and three rebounds. Leading bench scorer Christian Anderson had 17 points with three rebounds and a pair of assists.

Texas Tech vs Arizona State Prediction

I’ll stay with Texas Tech, but the line’s probably too thick to mess with. The Raiders didn’t play all that well in their latest loss to a good Arizona team, though. In that one, Texas Tech shot only 37.1 percent from the field and got outmuscled on the boards 42-29. The Red Raiders gave up 51.7 percent shooting on the other side but did keep the mistakes pretty minimal with just nine turnovers. That said, Texas Tech is still scoring well. They’ve hit 71 or more points in four straight games now.

As for Arizona State, they’ve scored 70 or more points in four straight games themselves. The thing is, the last three of those have been losses with 71 or more points surrendered in each. Texas Tech needs a good bounce-back effort here in order to power out a cover, but I think they’ll get it.

I get the reasoning for taking a look at the Sun Devils with a potential letdown spot for Arizona after the big win over Iowa State, but the concern for ASU is BJ Freeman leaving the Colorado game after four minutes with an injury and Jayden Quaintance missed the last game as well with an injury. Those are two big pieces to be down against an Arizona team that’s started to turn it on in conference play after a mediocre start to the year. I think Arizona continues their dominance over their in-state rival with a win and cover here.

Hunter Dickinson put up 27 points, nine rebounds, and one assist. There were four different players that put up at least 11 points. Kansas shot 50.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from behind the three-point line. 

Kansas on the season is averaging 79.3 points while their defense is giving up 64.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 91st in the league while the defense is ranked 30th. They are averaging 19 assists per game which is 8th in the league. Hunter Dickinson has been the top player averaging 16 points while shooting 55.4 percent from the field. He still is a liability on the defensive end, but he’s a good offensive player, there is no doubt about that. Zeke Mayo, the transfer from South Dakota State has been good and is the second-leading scorer averaging 14 points per game. 

Arizona State Looks for Second Straight Win

Arizona State has played pretty well heading into this game, and they are coming off another victory in the last game. Arizona State scored 81 points against Colorado and that was enough for the 20-point victory. At halftime, they were up 40-27 and in the second half, they pulled away even further. BJ Freeman had a strong game putting up 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Arizona State shot 51.9 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from behind the three-point line. 

Arizona State is averaging 77 points while their defense is giving up 70.9 points per game. The offense is ranked 141st in the league while the defense is ranked 176th in the league. Forward Basheer Jihad is averaging 13.5 points while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from behind the three-point line. In this game, the offense is going to need to be good, but the defense is also going to need to step up in a big way. On the road, getting out to a fast start is going to be key. Joson Sanon is dealing with an injury and is questionable for this game.

Colorado also has three losses on the year, but two were against Iowa State and the other was against Michigan State. These two teams have very similar metrics when looking at the numbers, but I think Colorado has been the slightly more impressive team. Take the Buffaloes to win on the road.
