Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

Ole Miss posted a nice run into January, but then tripped themselves up amid difficult conference games. The Rebels lost to only Purdue and Memphis in their first 17 outings, then hit losses to Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Missouri and Auburn in the next five. A 3-3 run came next with wins over Kentucky, LSU and South Carolina ahead of losses to Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Auburn. After that came a 3-2 stretch with wins over Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas mixed with losses to Florida and Auburn. Ole Miss has since beaten North Carolina and Iowa State in the national tourney, giving them a 24-11 overall record so far.

In the Iowa State matchup on Sunday, the Rebels entered the second half with a 40-29 edge. Ole Miss kept the pressure on with a 51-49 run the rest of the way and took the win 91-78 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Sean Pedulla with 20 points, eight assists, four steals and two rebounds. Matthew Murrell added 15 points with four rebounds and two steals, while Malik Dia had 18 points with eight boards and two steals in 26 minutes of action in the victory.

Michigan State Spartans Betting Preview

Over on the Michigan State side, they had a very brief run of rough games back in February but other than that they’ve been impressive amid a tough Big Ten slate. The Spartans opened at 5-2, then beat Minnesota, Nebraska, Oakland, FAU, Western Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, Northwestern, Penn State, Illinois, Rutgers and Minnesota in succession. Michigan State lost three of the next four versus USC, UCLA and Indiana, then beat Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Oregon before a conference tournament loss to Wisconsin. The Spartans have taken out Bryant and New Mexico so far in the national tournament, giving the team a 29-6 overall record.

In the New Mexico matchup back on Sunday, the Spartans held a two-point deficit by the break. Michigan State woke up in the second half though, notching a 42-32 run on the way to a 71-63 victory in the end. The only starter to finish in double-digits was Jaden Akins with 16 points and one rebound in 30 minutes. Tre Holloman (14 points; four assists; three steals) and Frankie Fidler (10 points) came off the bench to provide the Spartans with a winning lift.

Michigan State vs Ole Miss Prediction

I’m going to lean toward Michigan State, but you could call this one either way—especially with a fairly lackluster performance for the Spartans versus New Mexico. Michigan State shot pretty well from the field (44.4 percent) in that one and had a 34-28 rebounding edge with just nine turnovers. The Spartans gave up 48.2 percent shooting on the other side though, and missed nine of their 28 free throws (67.9 percent). Those attempts from the line are going to be crucial moving forward. Still, Michigan State has scored 71 or more points in nine of the last 11 games—a 10-1 run.

As for Ole Miss, they looked good against a talented Iowa State team in their latest win. The Rebels shot a nice 58.2 percent from the field with 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from 3-point range and only eight turnovers. Ole Miss got 20 points off 15 Cyclones turnovers though, so ball control is going to be very important for Michigan State here. I like this one to be won on the boards and at the line, so if the Spartans can play to their capabilities I think they’ve got it. Should be a great one to watch regardless.

Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

The Rebels have done a pretty good job record-wise amid a tough schedule this year, but they have had a couple of shaky runs along the way. Ole Miss hit a nice 15-2 start over their first 17 games, losing to only Purdue and Memphis during that time. The Rebels went just 1-4 over the next five outings though, beating only Texas among losses to Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Missouri and Auburn. After wins over Kentucky, LSU and South Carolina in the next three, the Rebels gave it back with losses to Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Auburn. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with a lone loss to Florida amid wins over Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas. In total over 32 games so far this year that gives Ole Miss a 22-10 record in the books.

On Thursday versus Arkansas, Ole Miss was outscored 46-41 in the second half but managed to eke out the win in dramatic fashion 83-80. The Rebels’ leading scorer was Malik Dia with 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Auburn side, they’ve been great all year long but they’ve also suffered consecutive losses for the first time all year in their most recent two outings. The Tigers lost to only Duke in their first eight, then beat Richmond, Ohio State, Georgia State, Purdue, Monmouth, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and Oklahoma before another loss to Florida. Auburn picked it up again with wins over Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss and Kentucky, then took losses in consecutive games to Texas A&M and Alabama. That gives the Tigers a 27-4 run through 31 games this year so far.

In the Alabama home rematch on Saturday, the Tigers went into the second half with a 45-42 deficit. Auburn eventually forced overtime but ended up losing 93-91 in the end. Tops in scoring was Johni Broome with 34 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and five blocks. Tahaad Pettiford came off the bench for 19 points, four rebounds and six assists in 34 minutes of work, and Miles Kelly had 13 points with four rebounds and one assist in 36 minutes. Denver Jones chipped in nine points with six assists and two rebounds as well.

Auburn vs Ole Miss Prediction

I’ll still lean toward Auburn. The Tigers have a lot to prove in this tournament run following consecutive losses in their last two games. In the Alabama defeat at home, the Tigers shot well (47.9 percent) and had just nine turnovers. That said, Auburn also missed six of 17 free throws (64.7 percent), got out-rebounded 41-33 and gave up 52.2 percent shooting on defense. The 20 points off 15 Alabama turnovers helped, but it wasn’t enough. Including the losses to Texas A&M and Florida, Auburn is now just 6-3 in their last nine games—which isn’t very good for them this year.

These teams have met twice before during the regular season, with Auburn taking the victory both times. The Tigers managed a 92-82 road win on February 1, then a 106-76 blowout victory at home on February 26. In that latest matchup, Auburn scored a whopping 56 points in the second half on the way to 59.6 percent shooting from the field, 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (27-of-33) from the line. With the 33-20 rebounding advantage and the 18 points off 10 Ole Miss turnovers, it wasn’t much of a game. This one may not be so lopsided but Auburn definitely has the edge in most facets.

Ole Miss is shooting 44.3% from the field, 73.7% on free throws, and 34.7% on three pointers this season. 

Arkansas Razorbacks Betting Preview

The Arkansas Razorbacks are 20-12 (8-10) this season after they defeated South Carolina by a score of 72-68 in their last game. Arkansas led 47-30 at halftime, but they were outscored 38-25 in the second half in the narrow victory. The Razorbacks shot 44.6% from the field, 31.8% on three pointers, and 93.8% on free throws in the game. Trevon Brazile led Arkansas with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Jonas Aidoo added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win. 

Prior to that game, the Razorbacks defeated Mississippi State by a score of 93-92 and Vanderbilt by a score of 90-77. Arkansas has won five of their last six games and they finished tied for ninth in the SEC standings with an 8-10 record. Arkansas has scored 76.6 points per game and they have allowed 70.9 points against per game, while also averaging 35.3 rebounds and 14.5 assists per game this season. DJ Wagner is averaging 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, while Johnell Davis is averaging 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game this year. Arkansas is shooting 46.7% from the field, 73.2% on free throws, and 33.4% on three pointers this year.

Arkansas was able to pick up a much needed win on Tuesday against South Carolina, but they played pretty poorly in the second half and nearly gave the game away. The Razorbacks have won four of their last five games and they played very well over the last month of the regular season. Ole Miss has won two of their last three games, including a great win over Tennessee, but they have allowed at least 77 points in four of their last five games. Ole Miss did beat Arkansas by a score of 73-66 earlier in the season, but I think we are going to see more points in this matchup. Ole Miss has gone over 144.5 in six straight games and I think this game goes over as well.

Florida Gators Betting Preview

The Florida Gators are 26-4 (13-4) this year after they defeated Alabama by a score of 99-94 in their last game. Florida led 41-40 at halftime and added 58 points in the second half to pickup the huge win. The Gators shot 48.6% from the field, 29.6% on three pointers, and 72.4% on free throws in the game. Alex Condon led Florida with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Walter Clayton Jr. added 22 points and eight assists in the game. 

Prior to that win, the Gators defeated Texas A&M by a score of 89-70, but did lose to Georgia by a score of 88-83 before that. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

The Rebels have really only had one or two bad runs so far this year—and they’ve been brief. Otherwise, it’s been a pretty good run for Ole Miss. During a 15-2 opening run, the Rebels managed to dispatch Long Island University, Grambling, South Alabama, Colorado State, Oral Roberts, BYU, Louisville, Lindenwood, Southern Miss, Southern, Queens U, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU and Alabama. A 1-4 run came next with a lone win over Texas amid losses to Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Auburn. After wins over Kentucky, LSU, and South Carolina, Ole Miss fell versus Mississippi State and Vanderbilt on the way to a 19-8 overall run through their first 27 games of the season so far.

In the Vanderbilt matchup back on Saturday, the Rebels came out of halftime sporting a 41-33 deficit. Ole Miss got better from there on a 39-36 run but still lost 77-72 in the end. Leading the team in the defeat was Malik Dia with 22 points, seven boards, two blocks, one assist, and one steal. Sean Pedulla added 21 points with six boards and four assists with one steal, while Jaylen Murray chipped in on 10 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. The only bench points (eight) came from Jaemyn Brakefield alongside his six rebounds in 26 minutes.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Auburn side, they’ve only got two blemishes on the card so far this year. The Tigers opened on a nice 21-1 run with a lone loss to Duke. Among wins over Vermont, Houston, Kent State, North Alabama, Iowa State, North Carolina, Memphis, Richmond, Ohio State, Georgia State, Purdue, Monmouth, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU and Ole Miss. After another loss to Florida on February 8, the Tigers have since taken out Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, and Georgia. That gives Auburn a 25-2 overall record through 27 games so far this season.

Matched up against Georgia in their most recent outing, the Tigers held a 29-24 edge in the first half. Auburn hit a 53-46 run the rest of the way and powered out the win 82-70 in the end. Johni Broome led the team on his 31 points with 14 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Denver Jones added 17 points with one assist, while both Chad Baker-Mazara (four assists; three rebounds) and Miles Kelly (eight rebounds; two assists) each chipped in 11 points apiece. Chaney Johnson added four points off the bench as well.

Auburn vs Ole Miss Prediction

I may take a stab at Ole Miss here. The Rebels will certainly need to play their best in order to be competitive though, and coming off a pair of losses that’s admittedly a lot to ask. Ole Miss shot a tepid 41.7 percent from the field in their latest loss to Vanderbilt, getting out-rebounded 37-30 along the way. The good news is that the Rebels were great from the line (13-of-15 for 86.7 percent) and they scored 21 points off 13 Vanderbilt turnovers. Still, Ole Miss has given up a combined 158 points across their last two games and they’re about to face a high-scoring Tigers offense.

The last time these teams saw each other back on February 1, Auburn secured a 92-82 win on the road. Ole Miss didn’t play too badly, shooting 46.4 percent from the field. The Rebels just couldn’t keep up with the Tigers’ pace though, as Auburn shot 48.4 percent with a 41-30 rebounding edge. I like Ole Miss to get in there for a cover during the rematch if all goes well, though.

It’s going to be a tight one and it could go either way, but I prefer Ole Miss right now because of the current form. They don’t even have to win here, just not to lose by more than a point. Also, we can’t ignore the fact that the rebels won each of the last two road games.

Give me Mississippi State here. Mississippi State already ahs a won over Ole Miss this year, and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. Yes they struggled in the last game against Florida, but I don’t trust this Ole Miss offense to be as consistent. Look for another big game from Josh Hubbard and it’s going to be Mississippi State is going to end up covering the spread here.

Collin Murray-Boyles was the top player for South Carolina putting up 14 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. 

Overall, the Gamecocks have a 10-13 record, and they have gone 10-12 against the spread. South Carolina is averaging 69.9 points, while their defense is giving up 69.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 289th in the league, while the defense is ranked 115th. The defense overall for this team hasn’t been awful, but the lack of playing any sort of defense has been a major problem.

I am not even concerned that Ole Miss is playing on the road; they are going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats have been rolling along at a nice clip for most of the year. That said, Kentucky has run into some losses over their last handful of outings. During a 7-0 opening run, the Wildcats took out Wright State, Bucknell, Duke, Lipscomb, Jackson State, Western Kentucky, and Georgia State in succession. Kentucky lost to Clemson, then hit a 5-1 stretch that included wins over Gonzaga, Colgate, Louisville, Brown, and Florida among a loss to Ohio State. Since then Kentucky has been on a 3-4 run. The Wildcats have losses to Georgia, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas in that time, winning otherwise over Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. The result so far has been a 15-6 overall run through their first 21 games this year.

In the Arkansas game on Saturday, the Wildcats entered the second half in a 46-45 deficit. Kentucky didn’t end up getting any closer than that, posting a 43-34 run for an 89-79 loss in the end. Leading the team in the losing effort was Amari Williams, who notched a double-double on 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal. Jaxson Robinson added 20 points with three rebounds and two assists, while Ansley Almonor put up 12 points with three boards and two assists. Following a loss to Memphis, the Rebels beat Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, and Alabama in their next four. Since then Ole Miss is just 1-4 with a lone win over Texas. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Auburn for a 16-6 record so far through the first 22 games of the 2024-25 season.

Matched up against Auburn in their Saturday game, the Rebels went into the locker room trailing 41-34. Ole Miss didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 51-48 second half and took the loss at home 92-82. Leading the team in the defeat was Sean Pedulla with 29 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Matthew Murrell added 17 points with four rebounds, while Jaemyn Brakefield had 12 points with five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Ole Miss vs Kentucky Prediction

I’m going to take a stab at Ole Miss here. The Rebels are coming off a tough matchup versus a very good Auburn team, but they didn’t play too badly in the defeat—outside of the 41-30 rebounding deficit and 48.4 percent shooting allowed, that is. Ole Miss shot 46.4 percent from the field themselves and scored 17 points off 12 Tigers turnovers. The 24-of-35 (68.6 percent) from the line and 22-11 disparity in assists didn’t help either. Ole Miss has now lost four of their last five games, with all four of those losses coming to ranked teams. For the most part, however, the Rebels are still scoring pretty well in defeat.

As for Kentucky, they’ve lost three of their last four with the most two recent defeats coming against unranked (but talented) squads. The Wildcats are also scoring quite well themselves, so this one should be another fairly high total. In the end, I like Ole Miss to power out the eventual cover at home, but you could probably make a case either way.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview

It’s been a great run for the Tigers so far this season. They’ve got just one blemish on the card so far, and that came way back in early December. Auburn opened up the year with wins over Vermont, Houston, Kent State, North Alabama, Iowa State, North Carolina and Memphis, then took their first (and only, so far) loss to Duke on December 4 by a score of 84-78. Since then it’s been another lengthy string of wins for the Tigers. Those victories have come courtesy of Richmond, Ohio State, Georgia State, Purdue, Monmouth, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU in succession. The result so far has been an excellent 19-1 mark in the record column thus far through 20 gams for the Tigers.

In their Wednesday matchup with LSU, the Tigers came out of the locker room with a dominant 41-29 edge. Auburn kept it up in the second on a 46-45 run and took the eventual victory 87-74 in the end. Tops in scoring on the team was Johni Broome with 26 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. Miles Kelly added 13 points with three rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes. Leading the team off the bench was Tahaad Pettiford with 10 points, three boards and two assists in 23 minutes of work on the court.

Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

Over on the Ole Miss side, they maintained form for most of the year so far, and were looking good in mid-January. The Rebels have since fallen off and collected a few more losses, however. Ole Miss went 11-1 over their first 12 games. The lone defeat in that time was versus Purdue. Otherwise it was wins over Long Island University, Grambling, South Alabama, Colorado State, Oral Roberts, BYU, Louisville, Southern Miss, Southern and Queens University. After another loss to Memphis on December 28, the Tigers got back to business with wins over Georgia, Arkansas, LSU and Alabama. Since then it’s been a 1-3 run with losses to Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Missouri. Ole Miss stopped the bleeding with a win over Texas in their last outing though, giving the Rebels a 16-5 overall run through the first 21 games this year.

Matched up against Texas on Wednesday, the Rebels came out of the break with a 38-34 deficit. Ole Miss came back in the second half though, posting a 38-31 run for a 72-69 victory in the end. Leading the charge for the Rebels was Sean Pedulla with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists. Dre Davis added 17 points with seven boards and two blocks. Jaemyn Brakefield put up 18 points with five rebounds and three assists with one steal and one block in 31 minutes of work off the bench as well.

I’m just going to stay with Auburn here. You could call this one either way, though. It’ll be a fun game. Auburn was firmly in control of their last road win over LSU, outmuscling the opposition 47-34 on the boards and collecting 22 points off 20 LSU turnovers. Auburn didn’t shoot very well themselves though, hitting just 40 percent from the field.

As for Ole Miss, they didn’t play particularly well in their latest win over a pretty good Texas team. The Rebels shot just 39.7 percent from the field and got out-rebounded 42-33 in a three-point victory. The 13 points off 11 Longhorns turnovers really made the difference in that one, however Ole Miss isn’t going to be able to rely on mistakes this time with Auburn.

What a Comeback for Texas

Texas in the last game faced off against the Texas A&M Aggies and they were able to pick up the big victory. At halftime, they were down 43-25 and they looked to be out of it. In the second half though they made the big comeback though and they ended up winning 70-69. Guard Tre Johnson put up 30 points, four assists, and one rebound. There were three different players that put up at least nine points. 

Texas comes into this game with a 14-6 record overall and they have gone 11-8-1 against the spread. Texas is averaging 78.9 points while their defense is giving up 66.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 78th in the league while the defense is ranked 51st in the league. In this game, they can’t get out to a slow start again.

Give me Texas here, although I don’t think they are going to win this game. Texas is a strong offensive team overall this season averaging 78.9 points per game and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. Ole Miss probably has the offense to win this game, but this is too many points for them to lay. It’s going to come down to the final seconds. Back Texas against the spread.

I’m on Texas A&M in this one. I can understand the allure of taking points with Texas in the home underdog role, but the thing is that I don’t think a letdown is in store here for the Aggies as I think Texas A&M is just the far more talented lineup in this spot. I’m not really all that high on the Longhorns this season, as this is an inexperienced team for the most part that has had a hard time stringing positive results together against top-tier teams. The Aggies are coming off of that big win over Ole Miss and I think they keep the momentum going with a win and cover on the road here.
