Oregon is the more balanced team, and it’s pretty much a home game out on the West Coast, so the Ducks are the rightful favorite. However, I like Liberty and the points, and I’ll even sprinkle the ML as well. Liberty is an experienced team and an elite offense that’s top-10 in offensive field goal percentage and three-point percentage. Liberty is also top-10 in scoring defense and third in three-point percentage defense.

Liberty finds easy offense and takes advantage of open shots. We’ve seen in past tournaments where teams get hot from the outside and the confidence flows through the building. It’s magic. Liberty has the ability to go on a run due to its elite shooting. Liberty is also 20-10-1 ATS on the season, for those who care. This is a dangerous matchup for the Ducks. Give me Liberty.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks Betting Preview

The Gamecocks have had a couple of spotty stretches in the record column so far this year, but overall they’re doing pretty well. Jacksonville State did open up on a shaky 9-7 run though, taking losses to Air Force, Toledo, James Madison, South Alabama, Missouri, Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee in that time. The Gamecocks would beat LA Tech, Sam Houston, UTEP, New Mexico State, FIU, Liberty, Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky in the next eight, then finished off the regular season with a 3-4 run including losses to Sam Houston, New Mexico State, Liberty and Kennesaw State. The wins in that time were over LA Tech, UTEP and FIU. The Gamecocks have since beaten FIU and Middle Tennessee in tournament play, giving the team an overall record of 21-11 through 32 games this year.

On Friday versus Middle Tennessee, the Gamecocks took a 35-35 tie into the second half and eventually took the tight win 70-68. Quel’Ron House was the team’s leading scorer with his 20 points, two assists, two steals and two rebounds.

Liberty Flames Betting Preview

Over on the Liberty side, they had a brief run of spotty play back in early January, but aside from that they’re doing great this year. The Flames kicked things off on a very nice 12-1 run through their first 13 outings, falling to only Florida Atlantic (in overtime) back on November 16 during that time. Liberty would hit a 2-3 stretch over the next five though, beating Middle Tennessee and Sam Houston amid losses to Western Kentucky, LA Tech and UTEP. Since then Liberty has just two losses versus Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State. Otherwise it’s been wins over New Mexico State, FIU, Kennesaw State, LA Tech, Sam Houston, New Mexico State, UTEP, FIU, Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, UTEP and Kennesaw State again. That gives the Flames a 27-6 overall record across 33 games this year so far.

Matched up against Kennesaw State in conference tournament play on Friday, the Flames were in trouble at the break with a 40-31 deficit. Liberty clawed their way back during the second half on a 50-39 advantage and took the eventual victory in thrilling fashion 81-79. Leading the team in the comeback win was Kaden Metheny with 24 points, three rebounds and two assists. Colin Porter added 15 points with five assists, while Taelon Peter led the bench scoring on 11 points with six boards and two assists in 30 minutes of work. Zach Cleveland chipped in 11 points with six assists and four boards in a starting role as well.

I’m probably going with Liberty. The Flames had a scare against Kennesaw State on Friday though, so they’ll need to be sharper in this matchup. In the game versus the Owls, Liberty eventually shot well from the field (50.9 percent) and 3-point range (14-of-32 for 43.8 percent) alongside just seven turnovers. That said, the Flames also went just 11-of-20 (55 percent) from the line and got outmuscled on the boards 35-29. That’s not going to cut it in the postseason. That said, Liberty has been scoring great over their last five outings with 80 or more points in each. The Flames went 4-1 during that stretch.

These teams split the season series with the home teams taking a win each time. Jacksonville State won 72-61 on February 1, and Liberty returned the favor on February 27 by a score of 59-55. In that latest matchup the Flames had a 31-16 halftime lead but faded in the second. There’s plenty to clean up in this game, but it’s a great opportunity for Liberty to bounce back with a nice performance.

I do expect a hard-fought tilt with some great defensive showings, especially from Liberty, a top-10 defense in the country. Kennesaw State Owls Betting Preview

Kennesaw State has had a pretty choppy year overall, but they’ve been able to keep their heads above the .500 mark so far. The Owls opened the year on a 5-1 run with a lone loss to Cal Baptist, then hit a 2-4 stretch with wins over Towson and Georgia State among losses to UC Irvine, Kent State, Santa Clara and San Jose State. The next nine were a 5-4 run with losses to Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, UTEP and Liberty among wins over Brewton-Parker, Jacksonville State, Sam Houston, LA Tech and New Mexico State. Since then the Owls are 4-4 with wins over FIU, Western Kentucky, LA Tech and UTEP among losses to Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston, New Mexico State and FIU. In total that gives the Owls a 16-13 overall record so far this year through 29 games.

In the FIU road rematch on Thursday, Kennesaw State opened up the game on a 34-24 deficit. The Owls didn’t get any closer on a 42-37 run from there and lost 76-61 in the end. Adrian Wooley led the team on his 20 points with five boards and two assists. Simeon Cottle added 14 points with two rebounds and two assists, while Ricardo Wright led the bench players on 10 point, one assists and two turnovers in 12 minutes on the court. Delaney Heard chipped in six points with three assists and three steals in a starting role as well.

I’ll stay with Liberty. The Flames were able to fend off a good Jacksonville State team in their last outing, but it wasn’t the prettiest win in the world. Liberty shot 42.9 percent from the field in that one but missed seven of 17 free throws (58.8 percent) and had 10 turnovers along the way. The Flames haven’t been the highest-scoring team in the world lately; they’ve been under 65 points in four of their last five—but have won all of those games.

Liberty took a 76-68 road victory the last time these teams met up back on January 30. The Flames shot a nice 50 percent from the field in that one and committed just eight turnovers. Liberty held the Owls to just 39.1 percent shooting from the field and scored nine points off 12 Kennesaw State turnovers. I like the Flames to control this one as well.

Liberty Flames Betting Preview

The Liberty Flames are 8-3 (5-3) this year after they lost to Sam Houston by a score of 20-18 in their last game. Liberty trailed 20-9 in the fourth quarter, but they did score twice, before getting stopped on the two point conversion for the loss. The Flames were out gained by a total of 333-262, lost the turnover battle 2-1, and went 3-16 on third down in the game. Kaidon Salter threw for 83 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while Quinton Cooley rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries in the game. 

Liberty has wins over Campbell, New Mexico State, UTEP, East Carolina, FIU, Middle Tennessee, UMass, and Western Kentucky, while also losing to Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State. The Liberty offense has scored 30.9 points per game with 175.8 passing yards and 259.5 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 23.3 points against per game this season. Liberty will not have their starting quarterback in this game, as Salter is transferring, and they are expected to have quite a few starters miss the game as well. 

Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview

The Buffalo Bulls are 8-4 (6-2) this season after they defeated Kent State by a score of 43-7 in their last game. Buffalo led 26-0 at halftime and cruised to the victory in the second half. The Bulls out gained Kent State by a total of 446-208, lost the turnover battle 2-1, and went 9-15 on third down in the game. CJ Ogbonna threw for 193 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, while Al-Jay Henderson rushed for 185 yards and one score in the game.

Liberty Just Keeps Winning

Liberty comes into this game with an 8-2 record overall and they are coming off another victory in the last game. Liberty scored 38 points, while the defense gave up 21 points and that was enough for the 17-point victory. The defense was good and they had three interceptions. Quarterback Kaidon Slater at times has been a bit inconsistent and he completed 6 of his 11 passes for 108 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. Quinton Cooley did have a strong game finishing with 24 carries for 166 yards and two touchdowns. 

Liberty is averaging 32 points while their defense is giving up 23.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 39th while the defense is ranked 59th. In this game, Liberty is going to need a big game from Slater.

Sam Houston State Struggled

Sam Houston struggled in the last game against Jacksonville State and the offense was a big reason why. Sam Houston State scored only 11 points and they ended up losing by 10 points. Quarterback Hunter Watson wasn’t good enough and he completed 13 of his 25 passes for 84 yards. He did have a strong game on the ground though rushing 21 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. Sam Houston State is averaging 23.5 points while their defense is giving up 20.2 points per game. The offense is ranked 101st in the league while the defense is ranked 23rd in the league. In this game, Sam Houston State is going to need the offense to get out to a fast starter start.

Kansas State Can’t Slip Up

Kansas State only has one loss this season but overall they haven’t been very dominant. In the last game against George Washington, the defense gave up 71 points, but the offense scored 83 points, and they ended up winning by 12 points. At halftime, they were up 46-27 and in the second half, they held on for the victory. David N’Guessan had a strong game putting up 17 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. There were five different players that put up at least 10 points. In this game, it’s going to be about getting out to a fast start again. David N’Guessan has been the top player for the Wildcats overall this season averaging 15.2 points while shooting 72.1 percent from the field. 

Kansas State vs Liberty Prediction

Give me Liberty here. This Kansas State squad has not lived up to the expectations this season, and that is going to be the difference here. Kansas State needs to get the offense out to a fast but that’s not what is going to happen here. Liberty is going to go over their season average of 76.8 points per game, and it’s going to be Liberty that gets the job done. Back Liberty against the spread.

Western Kentucky Offense Looks to Bounce Back

Western Kentucky beat New Mexico State 41-28 two games ago, but in the last game, the offense wasn’t good enough. The Hilltoppers faced off against Lousiana Tech and they scored only seven points on the way to the defeat. Caden Veltkamp completed 17 of his 26 passes for 152 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. In this game, the offense is going to need to be a whole lot better. If the offense struggles, this will be a long game.  Western Kentucky has been averaging 28 points per game so far this season. This ranks their offense in the 64th position in college football. Their defense has allowed for an average of 21.1 points per game, ranking them 35th in comparison to other defenses.

Liberty Coming off an Overtime Win

Liberty comes into this game with a 7-2 record overall but they almost suffered an awful loss in the last game. It took overtime but they were able to secure the 35-34 victory in overtime. Kaidon Slater wasn’t good enough and he completed 9 of his 16 passes for 114 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Quinton Cooley had a huge game though finishing with 20 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Liberty has been averaging 31.3 points per game. Offensively, they are ranked 41st amongst others so far this season in college football. Their defense has given up an average of 23.89 points per game. This ranks them 63rd when compared to other defenses in college football. 

Liberty vs Western Kentucky Prediction

Give me Western Kentucky to pull the upset here. I am not sold on Slater under center, and I do trust the Hilltoppers defense. Western Kentucky’s defense is giving up 21.1 points per game and they are going to step up in a big way here. Liberty is going to have no answer and it’s going to be Western Kentucky that is going to get the job done here. Back Western Kentucky against the spread. The Liberty Flames are off to a fine start and are getting after it defensively, but they haven’t quite had the toughest schedule. The FAU Owls still have talent from a year ago, and it’s likely only a matter of time before things start to turn around. This is a winnable game and FAU shoots well, Liberty doesn’t have the firepower to keep up. I like FAU to get a much-needed bounce-back victory.

I’m leaning towards UMass, though there are much better games on the board. UMass hasn’t had much to be excited about this year, but I think the Flames give out a maximum effort here and get the cover with a shot at the outright upset.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks Betting Preview

The Gamecocks started out 0-3 with losses to Coastal Carolina, Louisville, and Eastern Michigan. The good news is that Jacksonville State recovered from there to take out Southern Miss, Kennesaw State, and New Mexico State in the next trio of outings.

Jacksonville State kept their win streak going last Wednesday versus Middle Tennessee. The Gamecocks scored 14 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second during a 42-20 victory. QB Tyler Huff logged 137 yards with one TD. Huff had 151 ground yards and two scores, but Tre Stewart did most of the running on 210 yards and a score of his own.

Liberty Flames Betting Preview

Over on the Liberty side, they got off to a nice start with four straight wins over Campbell, New Mexico State, UTEP, and East Carolina. The Flames had a game canceled versus Appalachian State, then took out FIU 31-24 the next week.

Liberty took their first loss of the season last week versus Kennesaw State. The Flames were outscored 13-10 in the second half during a 27-24 result. QB Kaidon Salter logged 206 yards with three scores and an interception while also leading the rush with 87 yards on nine totes.

Liberty vs Jacksonville State Prediction

I’m going to stay with Liberty. The Flames need a good bounce-back here following a disappointing loss to a struggling Kennesaw State team, though. Liberty put up 386 yards in that one (206 passing) with 22 first downs, nine penalties, and just 27:41 in time of possession. Overall the defense was adequate but couldn’t generate any takeaways and gave up 7-of-14 on third downs.

As for Jacksonville State, they put on a rushing clinic in their blowout win over Middle Tennessee. The Gamecocks mustered a whopping 438 ground yards (575 total) in that one along the way to 30 first downs. This week’s matchup should be a pretty good one. I like Liberty to eke out a cover in a return to form, but they’ve got to slow down the run.

Liberty Flames Betting Preview

The Flames’ season has gone quite well so far with a string of wins—some closer than others. The opener was a 41-24 win over Campbell, then came a 30-24 escape versus New Mexico State and a 28-10 win over UTEP. Liberty would then beat East Carolina before a canceled game versus App State.

In their last outing versus FIU, the Flames were outscored 14-7 in the fourth quarter but survived in overtime for a 31-24 victory. QB Kaidon Salter finished with 125 yards and two rush scores. Quinton Cooley posted 29 carries for 174 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Kennesaw State Owls Betting Preview

Over on the Kennesaw State side, they’ve been on the opposite trajectory this season. The Owls posted losses to UTSA 28-16, Louisiana 34-10 and San Jose State 31-10 in their first trio. The next pair were losses to TN-Martin 24-13 and Jacksonville State 63-24.

Back on October 15 against Middle Tennessee, Kennesaw State took another defeat. The Owls put up a 7-3 deficit in the second half on the way to a 14-5 result. QB Khalib Johnson finished with 52 yards and two interceptions. Qua Ashley rushed 11 times for 79 yards to lead the team on the ground.

I’ll probably still lean toward Liberty here. Also probably not touching it, though. Due to the canceled Appalachian State game, the Flames haven’t seen the field much lately. By the time they hit the grass here, they’ll have played just one game since September 21. Liberty still won that game, but they weren’t perfect. The Flames committed nine penalties and went just 4-of-11 on third-down tries.

As for Kennesaw State, they didn’t play too badly on defense versus Middle Tennessee, giving up 284 yards (199 passing) and 5-of-16 on third-down tries. The Owls could only muster 234 yards themselves, however. All things considered, Liberty should dominate here, but the Flames may be a little rusty due to all the inactivity.

Quinton Cooley 100+ Rushing Yards (-160)

Quinton Cooley has finished with at least 105 rushing yards, and he’s going to have another huge game. In his last game against East Carolina, he finished with 19 carries for 105 yards. This FIU defense has really struggled against good running backs, and that’s exactly what they are facing here. Cooley is going to have a huge game here and finish with at least 120 rushing yards. 

FIU +17.5 (-112)

Everyone seems to be counting out FIU, and I am not so sure why, this team isn’t that bad. Sure they lost to Monmouth, that isn’t good, but in the last game against the Louisiana Tech, the defense gave up only 10 points. Liberty’s offense is good, but FIU’s defense is going to step up here. It might not be enough to shut them out, but it’s going to be enough to keep this game close. Back FIU getting the points. 

Treon Sibley 50+ Receiving Yards (-200)

Sure, Treon Sibley wasn’t elite in the last game, but he has been good overall this season. In three of the four games he had at least 77 receiving yards, In two of the games has finished with at least 109 receiving yards. FIU’s defense is going to surprise some people here, but they aren’t going to shutout Sibley. He always does a good job of getting his catches, and he’s going to do it again here. Sibley will go for at least 50 yards. 

Keyone Jenkins 221+ Passing Yards (-120)

Keyone Jenkins is going to have a solid passing game here for FIU. Two games ago against Monmouth, when they scored 42 points, Jenkins finished with 362 yards and two touchdowns. Before we look at who should be in your Pick6 lineup, let’s go over a reminder about how the contest works. Kaidon Salter Under 31.5 Rushing Yards

Kaidon Salter is going to have a strong game for Liberty, but that isn’t going to include a ton of rushing yards. In two of the last three games, Slater has finished with 24 or fewer yards and even in the game that he did go over the number he finished with 36 yards. In college, sacks lower the rushing yards of a quarterback, and that is going to hurt him here also. Salter will finish under 31.5 rushing yards. 

Quinton Cooley Over 109.5 Rushing Yards

Two games ago FIU let Rodney Nelson from Monmouth rush for 117 yards, and it’s going to be much of the same here. On the season, Cooley has rushed 53 times for 571 yards and four touchdowns. Cooley has finished with at least 105 yards in three of the four games, and it’s going to be much of the same here. FIU is going to really struggle to defend here, and the over is going to cash here. 

Dean Patterson Over 60.5 Receiving Yards

Dean Patterson is going to have a huge game here for FIU. In each of the last three games, Patterson has been target a ton, and he has finished with at least 68 yards. In the last game against Louisiana Tech, Patterson finished with five catches for 74 yards. Liberty is going to struggle to defend against Patterson, and the over 60.5 receiving yards is going to cash here.
