The Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes meet Thursday in NHL action from the Lenovo Center. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Hurricanes vs Panthers Prediction.

Series Recap

The Florida Panthers drew first blood in the series and stole home ice with a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes in game one. Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring for the Panthers 8:30 into the game on the power play before Aaron Ekblad doubled Florida’s lead less than four minutes later. Sam Bennett pushed the lead to 4-1 for Florida on the power play 6:08 into the 3rd and Eetu Luostarinen made it 5-1 for Florida with just over five minutes to go. Jackson Blake scored a consolation goal for Carolina just 1:24 later, but that’s as close as the Hurricanes would get as the Panthers would slam the door shut on Carolina and open the series with a win.

Hurricanes vs Panthers Prediction

I’m on the Hurricanes in this one. I think that the Hurricanes can ill afford to go down 0-2 in this series with a pair of games in Florida on the horizon. The Hurricanes have sent a message in this series that they’re not going to be rattled by Florida’s physical antics and I think the Hurricanes bounce back here.

Hurricanes vs Panthers Prediction

Carolina was able to defeat Washington in five games in the second round of the playoffs, while Florida had to go to seven games against Toronto, so the Hurricanes will have the rest advantage and home ice. Carolina has been outstanding on home ice all season, while Florida was right around .500 on the road in the regular season. I do think Carolina will get the win in this game, as that extra rest will help their defense suffocate the Florida attack. This is going to be a big change for Florida, who is used to playing against a Toronto team that wasn’t great on defense, but now has to go against the Carolina pressure. Take the Hurricanes to win at home.

The Carolina Hurricanes look to make the conference finals for the third time since the 2018-19 season. The Hurricanes are 7-2 in these NHL playoffs and 2-2 on the road. The Hurricanes have allowed two or less goals in six of their last nine games.

The Carolina Hurricanes are averaging 3.44 goals per game and are scoring 30 percent of their power play opportunities. Defensively, the Carolina Hurricanes are allowing 1.89 goals per game and are killing 92.6 percent of their opponent’s power plays. Frederik Andersen has given up 11 goals on 170 shots faced, and Pyotr Kochetkov has allowed 5 goals on 50 shots.

Washington Capitals Betting Preview

The Washington Capitals look to force a game 6 on Saturday. The Capitals have split their last eight games. The Capitals haven’t lost three straight games since March 25-30.

The Washington Capitals are averaging 2.67 goals per game and are scoring 20 percent of their power play opportunities. Alex Ovechkin leads Washington with 5 goals, Dylan Strome has 9 assists, and Anthony Beauvillier has 20 shots on goal. Defensively, the Washington Capitals are allowing 2.67 goals per game and are killing 69.2 percent of their opponent’s power plays. Logan Thompson has given up 22 goals on 268 shots faced, and Charlie Lindgren has allowed 1 goal on 5 shots.

Why the Washington Capitals will win

  • The Hurricanes have lost six of their last seven games as road favorites against opponents on a losing streak.
  • The Capitals have won four of their last five games as home underdogs following a road loss.
  • The home team has covered the puck line in each of the last 10 games between the Hurricanes and Capitals.
  • The Hurricanes have failed to cover the puck line in each of their last eight road games against opponents on a losing streak.
  • The home team has won the second period in each of the Capitals’ last 10 games.

Why the Carolina Hurricanes will win

  • The Hurricanes have won each of their last four Game 5s of a playoff series.
  • The Capitals have lost each of their last four playoff games when facing elimination.
  • The Hurricanes have won the third period in each of their last 11 games as favorites when leading after the second period.

Washington Capitals Player Prop Facts

  • Tom Wilson has scored a goal in four of the Capitals’ last five home playoff games against the Hurricanes.
  • Tom Wilson has recorded an assist in four of the Capitals’ last five home playoff games.

  • Seth Jarvis has recorded at least one point in each of his last 11 Thursday appearances.
  • Dmitry Orlov has scored two goals against the Capitals this season – most against any opponent.

Capitals vs Hurricanes Injury Report

The Hurricanes will be without Jesper Fast. Mark Jankowski is questionable.

The Washington Capitals will be without Martin Fehervary.

Capitals vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Hurricanes have absolutely dominated the Capitals in the last two games, outscoring them 9-2, and you can bet that has something to do with this line. However, let’s pump the brakes a bit and realize the home team has won nine of the last 10 games between the Canes and Caps.

Also, the Hurricanes have seen 22 of their 31 losses come on the road, while the Capitals have seen 30 of their 56 wins come at home. The Capitals have won eight of their last 11 home games as an underdog. The Hurricanes have lost seven of their last 10 road games as a favorite. The road / home splits for both the Capitals and Hurricanes is why I lean toward the home underdog.

Hurricanes vs Capitals Prediction

I’m on the under here. I get the case to be made for either side here, as Carolina looked strong in Saturday’s matchup, and this is still a lot of plus money on the table with the Capitals. However, this has been a grinder of a series with a lot of low-scoring games and a greater emphasis on low-scoring battles, and I think that the under is in play once again here. Give me the under.

In this article, we will formulate a Hurricanes vs Capitals prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, May 10, at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, NC. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Washington Capitals Betting Preview

The Washington Capitals (56-23-10, 51-38-0 ATS) eliminated the Montreal Canadiens from the NHL playoffs with a 4-1 win in the Round 1 series, and although they lost Game 1 of the series against the Carolina Hurricanes, they responded with a 3-1 win in Game 2. Connor McMichael, John Carlson, and Tom Wilson scored for the Caps, while Logan Thompson saved 27 of 28 shots he faced.

The Capitals score 3.14 goals per game on average in the playoffs (8th), while they concede 2.14 GPG (2nd). This postseason, Dylan Strome leads the team with 10 points (2 G and 8 A). Tom Wilson has 7 points (3 G and 4 A), while Connor McMichael chips in with 6 points (4 G and 2 A).

Logan Thompson (5-2-0) is expected to start for the Capitals at the goal on Saturday against the Hurricanes. The 28-year-old is allowing 2.01 goals per game this playoffs with a .931 SV% and no shutouts.

Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Carolina Hurricanes ( 53-31-6, 35-47-7 ATS) didn’t have a lot of problems with the Devils in the opening round of the playoffs. They won 4-1, even though the Devils fought bravely. The Hurricanes did beat the Capitals in Game 1 of the current series and took the home-ice advantage, but the Capitals bounced back with a 3-1 victory. Shayne Gostisbehere scored the only goal for the Canes, while Frederik Andersen stopped 18 of 20 shots he faced.

The Hurricanes average 3.14 goals per game this postseason (8th), while they allow 2.14 GPG (1st). Sebastian Aho leads the team with 9 points (3 G and 6 A). Seth Jarvis contributes 6 points (2 G and 4 A), while Andrei Svechnikov has 6 points (5 G and 1 A).

Frederik Andersen (4-2-0) will likely take his place in the cage for the Hurricanes on Saturday against the Capitals. The 35-year-old is allowing 1.55 goals per game this playoffs with a .930 SV% and no shutouts.

Total Goals Facts

  • Four of the Capitals’ last five games against Metropolitan Division opponents have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • Four of the Hurricanes’ last five night games against Metropolitan Division opponents have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • Twelve of the last 16 games between teams from the same division have gone OVER the total goals line.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 3′ market has hit in each of the Hurricanes’ last 10 Saturday at Lenovo Center.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1′ market has hit in nine of the Capitals’ last 11 road games.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Carolina Hurricanes rank 25th in the league in power play percentage this season (18.70%).
  • The Carolina Hurricanes rank 1st in the league for shots against per game this season (24.9).
  • The Washington Capitals are one of seven teams to rank in the top 10 for both goals scored and goals conceded per game this season.
  • The Washington Capitals rank T8th in the league for goals against per game this season (2.79).

Hurricanes vs Capitals Prediction

The teams have traded wins in the last couple of years, as each recorded five in the previous ten H2H encounters. Five of Washington’s seven playoff games went Under, which was also the case in five of Carolina’s seven playoff games. I am going with another low-scoring affair here. The Canes are 35-47-7 Over/Under this season, and considering how they play in the postseason, I doubt we will have a shootout on Saturday.

Capitals vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Hurricanes have put in work this postseason and oddsmakers have caught on as they look like the team to beat up to this point. However, this is pretty much a must-win game for the Capitals, and we’re getting them at home with plus money. The Caps had their chances to win game 1 despite getting outshot 33-14.

The Capitals are 29-9-7 on their home ice this season, and the Canes have seen 21 of their 30 losses come on the road. The Capitals have won seven of their last 10 games as a home underdog. The Hurricanes have lost six of their last nine games as a road favorite. Give me the Capitals and the more favorable price.

Capitals vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Hurricanes won six of the previous ten H2H encounters. This season, the series is tied at 2-2. Only three of the last ten H2H duels went Over, and considering how these teams are playing defensively in the playoffs, I expect another low-scoring affair. They have the two best defenses in the postseason, and I think one goal will be the difference on Tuesday. I am going with a tight clash and Under.

Why the New Jersey Devils will win

  • The Hurricanes have lost each of their last five games as road favorites.

Devils vs Hurricanes Injury Report

The Hurricanes will be without Jesper Fast.

The New Jersey Devils will be without Brenden Dillon and Luke Hughes. Johnathan Kovacevic is questionable.

Devils vs Hurricanes Prediction

It’s going to take more than one win for me to believe the Devils have the offensive firepower to really win this series. However, the Devils winning in double overtime can do wonders for a team confidence wise. Wins like that can sometimes feel like you won a game and a half, and it can have a carry-over effect.

The Canes aren’t the same team on the road as they are at home, as they have just 16 road wins. The Hurricanes were a mess to finish the regular season, and their offense has gone into hiding a lot during this stretch. The Canes are the better team, but the value is with the Devils at home and a chance to make 1.5 times your money.

In this article, we will formulate a Devils vs Hurricanes prediction for this NHL game on Friday, April 25, at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Carolina Hurricanes (49-30-5, 39-45 ATS) are in a commanding position in this playoff series after defeating the Devils in the opening two games. Following a convincing 4-1 win in Game 1, the Canes had to come from behind in Game 2, but still secured a 3-1 win in the end. Shayne Gostisbehere, Jordan Martinook (shorthanded), and Seth Jarvis scored for Carolina, while Frederik Andersen saved 25 of 26 shots he faced.

The Hurricanes score 3.24 goals per game on average (9th), while they concede 2.81 GPG (10th). This season, Sebastian Aho leads the team with 75 points (29 G and 46 A). Seth Jarvis has 68 points (32 G and 36 A), while Andrei Svechnikov chips in with 50 points (21 G and 29 A).

Frederik Andersen (15-8-1) is expected to start for the Hurricanes at the goal on Friday against the Devils. The 35-year-old is allowing 2.50 goals per game this year with a .899 SV% and one shutout.

New Jersey Devils Betting Preview

The New Jersey Devils (42-35-7, 32-52 ATS) are hoping not to drop into the hole after losing the opening two games of this series. The Devils scored just one goal in each game in Carolina, and their offense must improve if they want to extend this series. Jesper Bratt scored in Game 2 to give the lead to Devils, but the Canes responded with three goals and secured the win. Jacob Markstrom stopped 25 of 27 shots he faced.

The Devils average 2.93 goals per game this year (18th), while they allow 2.68 GPG (5th). Jesper Bratt leads the team with 90 points (22 G and 68 A). Nico Hischier contributes 70 points (36 G and 34 A), while Timo Meier has 53 points (26 G and 27 A).

Jacob Markstrom (26-18-6) will likely take his place in the cage for the Devils on Friday against the Hurricanes. The 35-year-old is allowing 2.50 goals per game this year with a .900 SV% and four shutouts.

Why the Devils will beat the Hurricanes

  • The Hurricanes have lost each of their last four games as road favorites against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The home team has won each of the last six games between the Hurricanes and Devils.
  • The home team has covered the puck line in each of the last six games between the Hurricanes and Devils.
  • The Hurricanes have failed to cover the puck line in each of their last six road games against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The Hurricanes have lost the second period in each of their last four night games at Prudential Center following a win.

Total Goals Facts

  • Five of the Devils’ last six games at Prudential Center against opponents on a winning streak have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • Four of the Hurricanes’ last five night games against the Devils following a win have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 3′ market has hit in 18 of the Devils’ last 19 games as home underdogs.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 2′ market has hit in each of the Hurricanes’ last seven games against Metropolitan Division opponents.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The New Jersey Devils rank 5th in the league for goals against per game this season (2.68).
  • The New Jersey Devils are the only team in the league to rank top 5 for both power play and penalty kill percentage this season.
  • The Carolina Hurricanes rank 25th in the league in power play percentage this season (18.70%).
  • The Carolina Hurricanes rank 1st in the league for shots against per game this season (24.9).

Devils vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Hurricanes won eight of the previous ten H2H encounters, four of six this season, and were better in the last three meetings. Coming back from a 0-3 hole seems highly unlikely for the Devils, so they cannot afford to lose this one. If they do lose on Friday, I’m afraid they will be swept, which would be a sad ending to the season. The Devils must utilize their defense, one of the best five in the NHL, on home ice and prevent the Canes from scoring more than two goals. If that happens, the Devils will have their chance. I am backing New Jersey to get back into the series with a W here.

Hurricanes vs Devils Prediction

Both of these teams finished the regular season struggling to find wins, so it will be interesting to see which team can get back on track here. The Hurricanes are 31-9-1 at home this year, while the Devils are 23-16-2 on the road. New Jersey has lost four of their last five games, while Carolina has lost seven of their last eight. These two teams split the season series with two wins each and I think they are pretty evenly matched, even with Jack Hughes out for the season. This should be a pretty low scoring series and I think game one could go either way, so I will take the Devils and the plus money.

Senators vs Hurricanes Prediction

Ottawa comes into this matchup trying to maintain their momentum for the playoffs this weekend, but they also are trying to stay healthy through this game. The Senators are 26-11-3 at home this year, while the Hurricanes are 16-20-4 on the road. Carolina has really struggled down the stretch this season, so they will be trying to find at least a little bit of positive momentum in this game. Both of these teams have been very good defensively for the majority of the season and I just don’t think we are going to see a lot of aggressive play, so I like the under in this game.

Canadiens vs Hurricanes Prediction

I’m on Montreal here. Both teams aren’t in the greatest of form down the stretch, but if we just look at this from a motivation perspective, the Hurricanes have nothing but pride and spoiler to play for here. They have a back-to-back to close out the regular season. Not to mention, Carolina’s been far less effective on the road this year. Montreal has a chance to control their own destiny and lock up a playoff spot on their terms with the Columbus Blue Jackets surging and breathing down their necks. If we just focus on who is more motivated, we’re getting the Canadiens at a steal of a price here. Give me Montreal.

Hurricanes vs Maple Leafs Injury Report

The Hurricanes will be without Jesper Fast, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Taylor Hall, and Shayne Gostisbehere.

The Maple Leafs won’t have Jani Hakanpaa, David Kampf, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Jake McCabe.

Hurricanes vs Maple Leafs Prediction

The Hurricanes are going to get the nod from oddsmakers because they’re the more trustworthy tram, and they’re at home where they’re 31-8-1 on the season. However, this line is a bit thick for a Maple Leafs team that’s playing great hockey and is closing in on a division title. Let’s not act like the Canes weren’t riding a four-game losing streak before their win last night over the Rangers. With wins in six of their last seven games and back-to-back overtime wins, the confidence has to be flowing for the Leafs right now. I’ll grab the plus money.

Carolina has lost four games in a row and they have very little to play for, as they are locked into the second seed in the Metro. Neither team has been very good defensively in recent games and I think we are going to see a wide open game. Take the over here.

Capitals vs Hurricanes Prediction

I’m on the Capitals in this one. I get the case to be made for the Hurricanes as they’re still one of the better teams in the East, but the Hurricanes’ playoff matchup is locked in, and they are only playing for momentum at this point. The Hurricanes, also at their best, have been far less effective on the road this season, and home ice has mattered in this matchup, with the home team winning the last five head-to-head meetings between these two teams. Give me Washington in this one.

Bruins vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Hurricanes continue to pile up the wins as they’re gearing up for the playoffs, while the Bruins are waiting for the season to end. The Bruins have completely given up on competing and haven’t won a game since March 11. The Bruins are getting torched defensively, and it’s hard to make a case for them the rest of the way. The Canes are vulnerable on the road, where 17 of their 25 losses have come, but this is a spot that shouldn’t be difficult. The Bruins haven’t a game in nearly a month. Give me the Hurricanes and the PL for max betting value.

Red Wings vs Hurricanes Prediction

Carolina comes into this contest looking for their fourth win in a row and they just dominated the Capitals last time out. The Hurricanes are 16-16-3 on the road this year, while the Red Wings are 19-16-3 at home. Detroit has been a huge disappointment over the last five weeks and they just can’t string wins together when they need it most. Carolina is pretty firmly cemented in the second seed of the Metro standings and they have struggled on the road, so I feel like we could see them come out with a below average effort on the front side of a back to back. Take the Wings at home for a rare big win.
